looks like a cheap copy of the Swoard ;)... when i see flexes range from 60-100 kilos, i can tell you a 60 kilo rider will not have fun trying to EC that board!
Its funny they even copy the lengths..

Hey Pokkis, I saw the thread on Bomber and checked out the site the other day. Nice stuff (Prior).

Did you design the shape?

Cheers

titanal swoards!

Post by nils » Wednesday 10 January 2007, 19:43

kessler made swoards: 1200 euros minimum ( check price of the one by pureboarding to have an estimated cost of the board made by kessler)

also as titanal might be interesting, i'm not sure it is the good choice for a very flexy board like the ECarver: Our boards are subject to way more stress than a typical race board that is used for 2 mins at its max... Our boards are used for many many many turns everyday, all fully bent... this also explains why its not so easy to make such board strong like a tank!

We'll improve the ECarver when there will be competition closer to it :) in terms of performance we are confident the board is good...

cannot believe goltes even calls its board extreme carver! doesn't show real invention there do they?? geee...

i have only this product http://www.goltes.si/slo/?tpl=katalog&pid=13 -170 and 175 and i'm very pleased with those two boards. It is good bord for this price. And when i saw first time extreme carve i knew that is copy of swoard :) In future I'll try this board and i'll report.
and this board costs about 500€ in Slovenia.

and some my pics with pro carve.

What about Elan. Sigi Grabner let them build the SGS Boards. Price for a titanal SGS RAce (according to Sigi same quality and build than the WC boards is 799€ RRP).

Elan definitely knows their stuff.
Otherwise Voigt Ski in Germany (www.spezialski.de) is a producer for high quality titanal race skis (since 1998) for boutique brands (like Bogner/Indigo, Snowrider.....) - The skis sell for around 370€ (without plate and binders) retail at Snowrider in Austria. They were a pioneer regarding titanal construction and did in the past already produce custom titanal raceboards (still do?).
Or Sporten in Check Republic (I could set you up with their marketing consultant whom I know a bit).

What Goltes does is cheap. Just copying. But better than most others who only produce skinny sticks for carvers who don't really need full blown race boards.

I must admit that even on carving side titatanal really works, unfortunately it raises prices slightly up, but if you are willing to pay for extra stability some exrta cash, that is way to go.
I was little bit skeptic for titanal for normal carving boards but experience of last season proofed that impression to be wrong. So for high-end carving boards that is very good option.
But i must say that very well built board even without titanal works also like dream, like my Tinklers, but they are from different world than any other non metal board i've been riding related stability. But on those there are totally another type solutions to solve it.

The trends...

The term "copy" is too strong because that board can't be a replica (a perfect copy) in all parameters and especially the construction. As I wrote there:
fivat wrote:I'm often surprised to see how people focus only on the dimensions 8O
I repeat the following:
fivat wrote:I think I would have stopped alpine snowboarding (for doing only freeriding with soft boots) if I had not known Jacques and his wonderful prototypes in the past. While the market was focusing on narrow boards, we were looking to another direction. Now some brands (who are often friends) try to follow, but the board width is only a small parameter... I'm often surprised to see how people focus only on the dimensions 8O

A big advantage that Swoard has is that the designer (Jacques Rilliet), besides his 20 years experience, is an excellent rider. :pray2: Both aspects, excellent engineer/designer and excellent rider, are rarely found together in the same person. This is the key of success: no problems of communication between the tester and the designer. Jacques knows exactly what he has below his feet, and can understand the links between what he feels on the snow and the engineer questions.
OK. Now it's good to see that the trends we have started (wide boards and extremecarving) are growing! 8)
pokkis wrote:Wider boards are ruling :bravo:
YES! :D For many reasons. A magazine has written recently:
A new form of alpine is here to stay with a lot more width and Swoard is the leader in this field.
A board with a 20 centimeters waist provides an incomparably more solid carve but needed shapes that are more ludic (that are more fun to ride). It's now a done deal.
Now let's hope that alpine snowboarding is going to grow more and more. Seeing new alpine boards on the Web sites (like the ones of Goltes) may show to the masses that this sport is coming back and that it's great 8)

naughty boy. You are not to annoy Master Nil - write this to the board 100 times!

I tried this strange board (I think they called it "PEN") some weeks ago. Very nice board, might be one of the best compromises when it comes to carving boards. Stable but not hard or rigid, wide enough for decent binding angles but not too dull. Lightweight and beautyful. What else would you want?!

Pokkis: Did I earn one for free with tis nice review?
