Reverse Spring on Northwave Boots

Post by Silber » Wednesday 11 January 2006, 16:43

Check this out: on my point 990 the owner (who currently works at northwave in Italy) has modified the spring system reversing the springs in the back boot...what do you think?

If you know someone that works at northwave factory > ask them if there are any left ( .900 or .950) and ask for the list!
Also tell them that there is a NEED for new production!

Already asked to keep me informed...anything that comes out I'll post it. For resuming production I already tried in the past....only for minimum 5000 pair if I recall correctly....

5000 total...?

Post by nils » Wednesday 11 January 2006, 17:57

5000 total or by size?

I'm sure 5000 would be easy to sell

500 > 30-31
1000> 28-29
1000>26-27
1000>24-25
1000>22-23
500>21-22

count me in :) ( although i already have a spare one ;)

What the reason  ? I suppose the 2 springs have different stiffness. The blue looks stiffer than the orange (coils are closer). Mounting the orange up gives a softer flex forward

Well I think: Same stiffness, different length. He just wanted to have more forward lean on rear foot (and maybe more ancle support).

I don't understand. even if the springs were different lengths, if you were using the same 2 springs, it'd be the same height.

2+3=5 and 3+2=5

Right?

Sorry, please look at the pic carefully. If The boot adaptor was above both springs, system would be not very useful (only having backward lean spring).

So height of boot connector an thus forward lean angle is defined by length of lower spring.

The back boot is already adjusted in a more forward leaning position due to a different bolt on the side of the ankle. Reversing the springs allows same maximum forward and backward lean than the front boot.
