Re: New boots from Korea
You think copying is great? We prefer innovation.
I know at least two brands of shoes which don't appreciate seeing some of their elements being copied so clearly.

Which are this two brands?
I believe that competition helps the market.
More choices, better product and why better price.

Re: New boots from Korea
Today, when there is an innovative model, one can certainly say "we prefer innovation".
But more recently, many dreamed that at least in some form would have appeared boots North Wave.
Someone was faster, and we saw the 951 model. The Koreans were late. Whether they are good or bad - time will tell.
And many carvers are waiting for the reincarnation of NW900. And no one wants to offer them, as we see.

Re: New boots from Korea
Copies are almost always worse than originals (because there is no comprehension of what is behind). What makes the world go further is INNOVATION, Research & Development. This takes time and money. Copying costs nothing. We see this in all fields.
The project of hard boots on which Swoard has worked for 3-4 years was original and was not copying anyone in alpine snowboarding. We come with our own ideas. That's our philosophy and we won't change. People who share our philosophy are following us.

Re: New boots from Korea
did I understand correctly that someone was hiding something in a dark room?
and men want to ride today! And not when something innovative will appear.

Re: New boots from Korea
The new Swoard boots would be a great thing, but the all of us are so happy about the mountain slopes which are not exactly an innovation.
But they are back in the market, who wants can just buy them, and not go around looking for very expensive old boots. That very expensive old boots now costs as a normal used boot. I have bought two pairs, one for 100€ the other for 200€.
Maybe in the future I will buy new ones or maybe a Swoard boot if you succeed in reaching the production and the meet my needs.
The possibility of choosing is the best thing.

Re: New boots from Korea
Hello guys,
it is always quiet funny to watch those boot discussions by different people who obviously have different requirements due to their riding style which is heavily determined by the board material and riding requirements.
When i see the Korean boot design with the Deeluxe forward mechanism, i can only laugh out loud, although this mechanism seems to be quite suitable for the pure boarding guys.
Usually most of the people with a few snow days per year are well served by the current 2 brands Deeluxe and UPZ.
For others who spend more time for riding and prefer special styles, the boots are of utmost importance to optimise comfort and riding performance.
For instance the NW and 951 models have one of the best ergonomic shell designs for snowboarding.
They are quite stiff and well suited for race-technic and binding angels around the ca. 45-60 degrees with a well controlled and limited forward flex range.
They are also considered well suited for EC-Technic, if the forward flex range is extended by a modified spring-mechanism and/or adaptating the tongue flex.
The same adaptions might be needed for riding narrow boards and binding angels.
Both riding styles require more forward flex to bend the knees more as it is needed for racing. For racing it is very important that the forward flex is limited by the mechanism and the tongue to avoid injuries at high loads on frontside turns, especially with long GS boards and plate systems. This is also true for recreational free carving with such an eqippment.
I have a lot of experience with Deeluxe, and UPZ boots with race boards for freecarving and have also tried some other EC styles. Currently i have switched to the 951 with a custom foam liner and this is now perfect for my needs. Some small adaptions with spring and/or tongue might follow or even not at all..
Each style or riding technique needs different (more or less) adaptions on the equipment - and also for the boots ! Additionally boots are very individual for everyone.
Therefore i fully understand that the swoard team is carefully testing different models on the market, its practical possibilities for adaptions and also the intention to develop a specific model specific for EC.
Respect and Good luck !
