Willow 15, how many weeks or month You will wait until shin is o.k. again?

Some boots hurts on shin, if You fit them in store, it depends from shin to shin of carvers. But in general brands like UPZ, are well known for such problems.
Riding softer boots and shorter boards will help You.
Reminding: Snowboarding was invented as a sport of fun, not as a sport of agony!
Gliding on Snowboards,
like Pogo, Kessler, Virus, Hot, Nidecker and others,
from 151 up to 183 cm and 14 to 27.4 cm width,
covering any kind of shapes with
any kind of boots and bindings.

You could try to put a (slim plastic) soccer shine protection between the liner and the boot tongue. I used this solution 20 years ago with the early raichle (red and green tongues) that were killing my legs (single buckle). This will better spread the efforts on the tongue. Not ideal but it worked very well (no more pain!)

Cheers

I would add my opinion:
I was having a lot of problem with UPZ boots and shins.
An instructor told me that I was wrong in putting pressure on the boot and... guess it... I solved my problem.
The shin pain occurs if you press toward the tip of the boot instead of toward the internal part of the curve (in your frontside carve).
The picture you posted explain this: it should not be that part, to be injuried but a more lateral one (it depends on the angles you use on your board).
The part you have injuried should be injuried just if you would have from 0 to 20° on your bindings... ;)

Anyway... the Upz has got a very hard shell and liner.
This year models should have some improvements on these.

That looks a nasty picture. I've got the same Virus UPZ boots. Been using Raichle trouble free for quite a few years on a Black Death, but the linings were wearing out, so opted for the virus boots. Were fine up until last year, even for a week hard non-stop boarding in Coucheval. Had one day in Engelberg last spring, and that was my snowboarding done for a fortnight. Had severe shin bruising problems ever since. No bleeding, just gets very red and swollen.
I was in Kaprun 2 weeks this January, but the bad weather (and wife and three year old with me) kept me off the slopes a bit, so didn't suffer so much. Drove into Munich one very snowy day, and there's an excellent shop Berner Sport (www.berner-sport.com) with a couple of pony-tailed guys who actually know what they're doling. Spent around an hour in there, where they cut the inner shoe about and tried some remoulding in one of those oven things. Seemed to have improved things a lot, and they charged me 7 euros. Got another 2 weeks in Austria before Easter, so see if things improve.
