unfortunately 10 days before the avalanche 2 snowboarders were killed by another avalanche on the mountain Cheget.
Avalanche in the film was without any victims. Some years ago there was bigger avalanche. It cut forest between the moutain and the road and jumped over the road.
As you can see, there are a wedge without forest.

Sorry - to express their thoughts is not easy. The main thing is that in general we can to converse!
I'll try again:
I understand that is a special team which has observed the mountains and snow. If the the snow is a lot (may be dangerous to humans) is the team decides to controlled-shot (and an avalanche of falling).
This avalanche is shown in the video was very big - snow (or maybe only the a cloud) reached to the road and was a danger to people, houses and vehicles. Everything looked dangerous.
Questions:
Because was much the snow on the mountain - the decision to cause an artificial avalanches (the shot) should not be earlier (when a little less snow)?
What are the criteria for the decision (when shot)? When the snow reaches a certain thickness?
And ask out of curiosity: What is the distance (approximately) from the top to the road?
I have many questions about this topic but ... you understand ...

avalanche patrol knows rules when to shoot. but I don't know it.
perhaps there was a big snowfall and they fired on first sunny day after.
do not worry - no buildings in the danger area.
Dangerous part of the road has been closed for shooting time.
You can measure distance on the map I gave the link.
There are mountain Cheget, river Baksan and the road.
Avalanche danger area is marked by tracks of falling avalanches.
Generally, avalanche is very popular theme for freeride forums.
I have not seen EC carvers with an avalanche beacon and a shovel in a backpack

My first idea was that it is was a very good movie about an "aerosol avalanche" i don't know the real english term.
This is an avalanche of deep powder snow, very cold , for me the most dangerous because the speed is about 100 to 300km/h .
I have never seen in snow tourning such an avalanche like this !

Don't forget the probe , you need these tree spares.
You're right, when i am in alpin no beacon but on freeride board each time in the backpack (ARVA,probe & shovel).
http://www.data-avalanche.org/
This site is for avalanche made by Alain DUCLOT, an french expert about snow , very interesting about the thickness of the crack on the upper avalanche. Sorry the site have some problems today !
Generally you can have a look about the paper writen by PGHM (French military ski patrol for Rescue)
We like slope but generally one day we go outside to do offpist , it is why i think it good to have some informations about snow avalanche.

Hi !
It is recommended that (orders) to freerider - who rides in the area at risk of avalanches - took with him a survival kit (avalanche beacon and a shovel.)
Question to freeride snowboarders who ride at risk of avalanches in the area:
1. Is when driving on a snow slope - the board is strapped to the leg (leash) or not?
It seems to me that if an avalanche descent board (with a leash) can draw deep snow rider (rider is more secure because unfasten the ski during a fall).
2. Is the leash is a threat to rider?
3. Maybe, a different solution to this problem?
Can someone explain this to me? Thanks!

thank you, it is right comment.ICERIPPER wrote:Don't forget the probe , you need these tree spares.
I have a probe inside of shovel handle - BCA companion, so I forget to mention it.
Mirek, the only you have to know about avalanches - never go to freeride without guide. But unfortunately even guides are not 100% warranty.
You (and me) never will read slopes for safety path, as local guide.
Chances to survive not too match, even into small avalanche.
Often companions of unlucky freerider found his out fastly by the beacon, but unfortunately dead due to injury.
It does not matter, how the board fastened to your legs. You can not release it if avalanche goes.
Hi !
At the avalanche must be careful! You watched it?
http://vimeo.com/6581009
This skier managed to survive despite the fact that he was a few minutes under the snow!
I wonder how long a person can survive under the snow? 5 - 10 minutes or maybe longer?
I have not seen an avalanche and even more to be buried by snow.
And yet, this avalanche:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32b9m7C ... detailpage

1)These guys are very very reactive, less of 5 mn to find with the deacon & showel
2)The skier on avalanche is safe because he was with a group feated with deacon (no stress from the other i think, not easy to said how i can be with one of your friend under snow). Other point RECCO is only a marketing word, it is not a deacon
3)One of the best movie for avalanche, what to do

Generally we talking about 15 mn, after deep of snow is important too , you can be shoked by stones also.
30mn seems to be a time really dangerous if you don't have an ecco with the deacon.

Due that it's a russian people under the avalanche of Mt du Valon
I don't have show you these one.
Waiting info about how the avalanche became but on the movie it is showed that 1 or 2 snowboarders can have started the avalanche and the russian skier was alone really more back on the slope.
I have read that there was about 5 meters of snow at the end of the avalanche so too dangerous for rescue to used probes (there is also a lake) This off piste is called (Les lacs du Borgne) easy to do because no climbing, you just have to cross the black & yellow ropes indicated you that you are on an off pist area.
It was an terrible week-end in France for off piste skiers.
