Toe/heel bails...

are ti, but the top plate is anodized gold. It does cut a little weight from 'em.

Are the bails stronger than the ordinary TD2s? I have also experienced that the bails stretch, so stronger bails would be an improvement.

TD2 Titanium

Post by István » Wednesday 19 January 2005, 10:08

Interesting..... looks nice, anyway, but indeed, what difference does that little weight decrease make?

The base plate seems to be strong enough without being made out of Titanium, so this modification seems to be a bit useless..... but at least looks sexy.

Cheers,

István

I think the bails are thicker and made of titanium. So that should make them stronger. Titanium has the best strength to weight ratio among the metals.

Benefits of titanium:

- Excellent fatigue strength (twice that of 4130 steel).
- Up to 1345 Mpa for high grade alloys .
- etc..

Had some email exchange about these bindings with Michelle from bomber since I am interested in those ti ones:

Hi Hans

The bails are made of Titanium. They have better "fatigue life", and will hold their shape better.

hehe ti bails!

Funny because after Jacques snapped the previous ones, he had them made in Ti alone, before now Fin makes them! That is good news! Hope the price of the part alone is not to high!

TiD2

Post by István » Tuesday 1 March 2005, 18:33

Guys, do you think it is possible to buy only those parts that have been changed (i.e. turned into titanium), so that one can re-build his/her TD2 into a TiD2.

Cheers,

István

Defenatly they sould have them as they said they have 5 Year Warrantee & Full Parts Support.
The only thing that worries me is the cost and the shipping.
Is it really worth it??
