Security in Step-in and Standard bindings

Post by SITO » Thursday 23 December 2004, 19:59

In reviews about step-in bindings & standard bindings, I have could read that the SI are more sure than ST because if the bail of the second break you 'll haven't any union between your feet and the bindings, your feets will be on the air and this it's very dangerous. If the bail of SI break you always have the union with the binding throught the heels- pin.
But I don't think so.

Days ago I was checked my SI-hells for casuality for tighteen the bolts, what was my surprise seen that they-both was totally broken along the axis of the heel pin 8O 8O ,(from the one to the other side of the hells) the pin only was attach to the hell for a few mm(but the in both hells!).they was destroyed! LOOK AT THIS!

If in this day I would have gone to ride with this binding the catastrophe would be secured , both hell would be broken at the same time!! so check not only the bail also check your hells and his pins!

Happy Christmas to everybody!

Those are not Intec SI ? right ? They look so different than my heep pices.
But i agree that on my dreams i see that someone does Intec SI heel pice from Aluminum  then it will survive anything
This just reminds that we should check bindings as often as we wax our boards, which btw i dont do
btw could you make pic how they fit to boot cause i dont understand that

Pokkis,

This is other SI sistem, the pin isn't retractile, yours have a cable and is retractile, but the problem is the same in both, the hells are in plastic, and mine don't tolerate the pressure  .I agree with you and that the hells would be built in aluminum and that we must revise all our gear as the same frequency that we wax our boards ( At leats some of us because the boards of other people don't see the wax in all his ride life :evil2: ).

Respect how my heel fit to my boots, they fit like a glove, and they work very, very fine, but......

BTW??my dictionary and I have a problem

Hi Pokkis,

You are really lucky to have this boards in your quiver.
I'm just waiting my Madd 170 to arrive as well a Swoard 168 (fingers cross)
By the way did you sent them to be fine tuned in PTC is it worth it?

Wish you all the best with them.
