The normal taxes and importtaxes that is usual for your country + some administration fees for the distributor/customs. Normally the administration costs are fixed per item. Here in the netherlands we pay about 2,5/3% importtaxes (calculated over the shipping and item)+ 19% taxes calculated over the shippingcosts, item and importtaxes. Overall about 24% over the item.

My recommendation is to send the bindings to someone you know in the US, have them repack the bindings so it doesnt look like it was bought in a store and then send it through the post office. Have them mark the bindings as a gift/present, put a value of $50, and have them include a birthday card inside. No taxes on gifts. USPS global priority starts at $25

There are also companies that do this for you if you dont know anyone in the US, but they take a 15% fee.

What they said - you can look up the local "duty" costs on your country's taxation peoples' website. In UK they vary depending on precisely what the stuff is (eg the duty for cameras is different from that for lenses).

You pay that plus VAT or the local equivalent, plus the handling charge from the shipper for collecting the cost which is usually outrageous (£109 or £20).

The easiest way is to get the stuff sent to a mate in the USA and then pick it up in person, or get them to take it to a handily located ski resort... Not that I'd every consider doing anything like that of course, officer.

It works in Poland as I do it a million times a year, and it works in Finland, because you are in the EU. Just have the package marked with a value of 45e :)

Heh, done/tried that several times, and package stoped by customs and they will require clarification of value of shipment, regadless if you bought it or you got it as present, you will pay taxes if value goes over 45e.

Ah I understand, more demanding and tougher customs :/ In Poland then we are lucky (or unlucky depending on how you look at it) that customs are so lax. I guess you can always send it to Poland and then to Finland :D
