Just seen it at 13.00h CET. Great pictures, about 1 minute of really fast EC, also some jumps with raceboards. This guy is crazy.
He loses contact with the ground in the middle of the turn so that he is completely laid down and the board is 30 cm in the air and then he carves straight on as if nothing had happened..
And he does EC on a banked (correct term?) SBX-course which seems very difficult to me. Seems like I've got a lot of things to learn this winter...
Look at www.eurosport.com tv-schedule, there is some WATTS at 22.55 CET.

Is it J&P ore some other guy?

More and more EC on TV!

Post by fivat » Tuesday 19 October 2004, 18:34

Excellent news! :clap2:

I'm really happy to see snowboard extremecarving (in hardboots) on TV! That's excellent for our sport, to make people know its existence and the exhilarating feelings one gets! :D :silly:

Last year the movie STOKED was shown on Sport+ (available on Canalsatellite and the cable). Program: "Infinidade". Three repeat broadcasts!

Let's continue to show more and more EC on TV!

Also check if there will be any broadcasting of the FIS World Cup in Landgraaf, the Netherlands. A World Cup race held in an indoor snow complex! This is what snowboarding in the flatlands is all about...

I looked WATTS yesterday and I think this guy really masters it. 8O

But - and it's a tease- did anyone catch which snowboard he is riding? The guy seems rather tall and the board does not look that wide to me, so he must have ridden it with pretty steep angles. Unfortunately the quality of my PCTV card which recorded it is not that good, so I can't really say what kind of board that is. However, I'll give it a close look and perhaps there still is a hope for us, who can't for that or some other reason get hands on Swoard and are stuck with narrow race board...

Cheers,

Jakob

Narrow boards, no linked laid turns

Those boards are narrow... Thus feet are often touching the snow.

Note that one sees NO linked laid turns: only isolated turns in all the video!

Wide boards allow to link the fully laid turns easier than narrow boards, without losing too much speed or edge grip. The lower feet angles is another advantage for the EC technique.

But again: I love this video, especially on TV! 8)

Quite right, no linked turns.

I figured often out myself that (riding on a narrow board) I need good slope to link laid turns. However, not having a chance to try wider board I cannot tell how it would menage in situations where my board lets me down (which then again, not trying a wider board, is not too often...).

So the boards are blasts then huh? I've never tried one, but I hear they are very stiff and brilliant for high speed adrenaline junkies and racers. But has anyone tried EC with blast?
