It takes a Finlender to promote Norwegian wintersport resorts. I joined Pokkis and his friends last year, after not being at Oppdal for years (spoiled with good resorts in the south-eastern part of Norway), and can only recommend this place. There are lots of well-groomed slopes for every category, good possibilities for off-piste and powder, almost no people at that part of the season and very nice company.

That is not bad driving for whole week's trip anyhow 8)
or let's say that it is worth of driving cause place is great and there is really room for carving 8)

I'm carving every weekend also but not in Oppdal.
i used to carve everyday earlier, my home slope is less than 20 minutes from home

Look at it as winter vacation in a different place and maybe the travel is not that frightening. It is possible to take the airplane to Trondheim and train or rental car from there. As Pokkis, I am in the lucky situation of having good slopes 15 - 20 min travel from my home and great ski resorts 1 1/2 to 3 hours drives by car from home. Still I will go with a little group from Oslo 400 km each way to join Pokkis because of the slopes and the experience of being almost alone on the slopes. I know it could be far away for many, but worth considering for a different experience.

This is very free format camp, like Zinal EC session or HBU one.
Everybody takes care of travel arrangement, accomodation and lift tickets.
Even on related to these there is some unofficial arrangements available.
We will everyday agree on which area to start on next day, depending of weather and how people prefer. We have film and video cameras wit us whole time so when ever is change for good shooting, it will hapen. In case of good powder we will do that too, if folks want that
I can recommend places to stay there if you let me know how many are coming, whole area is such that it is quite short distance to slopes anyway.
On evenings we have tried to gather to watch days shoot-outs :)
So schedule for normal day is: carving, lunch, carving 8)
Drop me email if any detailed info required.

Even I find it a little bit too long, 400 km each way, for a short week-end. The local, easy slopes have to do for this week-end, but most places in the Southern part of Norway open this or the next week-end. Weather in Oslo for the moment, -10 degrees and sunny.
