1. to me the SP seems more like a raceboard with no clear purpose than like a designated carving board. The turning radius is not that different from the RS because it's much stiffer, and it's definitely not easier to ride despite from the fact that it needs less speed.
If there is any disadvantage concerning raceboards, then the SP has got it, too.
Conclusio: If you're not afraid of high speeds and have to choose only between these two, take the RS. It will require a little bit of adaptation and it may feel unwilling to turn for the first couple of days, but in the end you will have more fun for a longer period.
Alternative might be the GTS but about that I know nothing.

2. I'm far from being an expert or a EC-instructor and still have a lot of things to learn, but I promised to myself that by the end of this season I can do as many laid and linked turns as I want. And if you come to the eastern half of the Austrian Alps maybe we could do some training together and maybe we get some carving-interested guys to make EC popular around here or at least to make people stare at us.
And so if I gave you the wrong advice concerning SP's and RS's you then get the chance to beat me up...

Silberpfeil

Post by RicHard » Friday 10 September 2004, 11:51

I think that Silberpfeil is not good for Extremecarving purposes.
Too nervous, too narrow and with a sidecut radius that is too tight.
I had the 168 one and have now the 162: I try to extremecarving with my FP 178 (gianta slalom board) and use Silberpfeil just for the crowded days, where you can turn in a very short space.

I would move to the RS more than the silberpfeil, even if F2 says that Silberpfeil is a carving machine: yes, it carves the ice, but not for the extremecarving. Its absolutely a "non confortable" board, that force you to have very high angles and strong legs. Otherwise, you cannot control it (even if you could be the one that is happy going just sliding from left to right and back).
My opinion (and the one of other friends that has got the same board, one of them sold it because it was absolutely not able to control it).
Greetings.
