Ciao Guys

Sorry its off topic:
I'm going to Roma early october: could you recommend me a nice hotel in averages prices in the historic center ( i mean not inside the vatican ;).

- charming
- could be modern or not
- quiet
- original

Grazzie

Well... as you could imagine... strangers could answer your request better than Romans! :-)
As always.
I'm from Rome but... really... I don't know any place to sleep for cheap with clean environment.
In the "station" area there are a lot of "cheap" places, but... I cannot bet on the situation inside.
Perhaps a "Bed & Breakfast" in a not very center area could be a good solution.
I'm trying to ask to some friends and I'll be back.
:-)
In the meantime... "welcome" to Rome! :-)

Hi,
Richard is right, most enjoiable is to rent a B&B and for eating find some cheap trattoria, I can suggest some if you want.
I have a friend who has a B&B near Coloseum, if you let me know in which period I can ask him for you.
Also you can try with http://www.romesweethome.it/ when you find something interesting call and ask for Boris or Peter or Alessia and tell them that you are a friend of Jacopo.
They are friend of mine.
Also you can have a look on http://www.rentalinrome.com/ .

Grazzie too late booked a hotel already :) finally thought i would have to spend a bit more to have great comfort ( we need rest with everyday life these days...4 kids 1 business each...).
I'm even renting a Vespa PX ( i'm a vespa fan/owner, if you see a 160 GS vespa let me know :)

Maybe give me the name of that trattoria :) i'm a pasta fan ( who is not? !)

thnx for the hints anyway: i'll bring a few Duals :) as reward( joke)..

Ok! On trattoria I'm more confident.
As already asked... in which part of rome are you going to stay?

Great place.
Near pantheon, you have absolutely to taste the ice-cream of "Pinocchio", an ice-cream shop that's located aside the Pantheon (watching its entrance, the ice-cream shop is on your right!).
You will tell me about. :-)

Hi
a great place to eat roman food is Tonino Via del Governo Vecchio, 18,
for have some fish go to Monserrato Via Monserrato, 96. Telefono: 066873386 maybe is better to make a reservation for a table outside.
For a glass of wine try Cul de Sac at piazza Pasquino
other good place is Il Pavone at via del pavone
Dal Pallaro at piazza del pallaro good food, no ordering, they'll take what they have cooked, very cheap.
have fun

I could add, always in the same area,

Baffetto
Via del governo vecchio, 114
00186 - Roma (RM)
Tel. 06.6861617

Very cheap place but one of the most famous where you can eat wonderful pizza, absolutely NO-chic but... really typical.
:-)

P.s.: a lot of celebrities have been there. So... they miss you! :-D
