Thank you for the links, I didn't know them before.

I was also at the Emirates Mall (Ski Dubai) but I wasn't boarding there. For me it was too expensive and not so funny with the gear they're offering. I prefer going two whole days to Zinal or somewhere else in real mountains for the same money

Sandboarding was a funny experience. I had the same problem with missing straps on the softbinding, but for this small hill it wasn't so bad...

Incredible! 8O How can they still use such damaged stuff? They have no idea about what they do! Well, most tourists are not making any turn: they just go straight. I understood this when the guy from the company said he was very surprised to see me making real turns. :D

Funny experience indeed. Note also that I had a small negative angle on the front foot (-10 to -20°). Back foot: 0°. 8O No screwdriver around, grrr! But it was OK for riding.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
See you on the snow with proper gear and setting! :D

crack676: ... Emirates Mall was too expensive ...

For to be a "Platzhirsch" in Dubai skihall, it's cool to enter with a skicard from Meilenweiss! (see picture 1)
http://www.meilenweiss.com/index_winter.html

This skicard covers as the first one 2 Continents! (Europe & Asia) 5 Countrys (Austria / Germany / Liechtenstein / Switzerland / United Arab Emirates) with 23 resorts and 280 lifts are ready to You. (for to use at Dubai a voucher should be ordered at Tarifverbund Meilenweiss Flumserberg)
Flyer: (pdf, 1.1 MB) http://www.meilenweiss.com/files/downlo ... 8-2009.pdf
Pre-season price is at SFr. 870.-, about 10 time like one single skipass for Dubai ski-hall, but for to use on 23 resorts all the winter time.

Watch out also http://www.dubaiskiclub.com (link: skiing in middle East) how many skiresort are located in India / Iran (20 ski areas!)/ Kazakhstan / Lebanon / Pakistan and Turkey !

It seems on these hot temperatures up on the mountains now (*), a ski-hall in the desert can help to cool down. Freezing level is now since weeks over 4000 m, which force all the glaciers to melt faster and faster, spending a lot of glacier-milk (see picture 2)
The lowest available snow I saw these days on the mountains is reaching down not much less then to 1600 meters over see level. For to sleep right only 700 m next to a snowfield (aprox 15 minutes to walk up to the snow), I had to go to 1800 meters, high to an alp, deep in the heart of Switzerland (above the waterfall on picture 2)
Fresh Swiss Cheese was there elaborated right next to my beed of straw. Cheese and bed have been out of aromatic herbs, from the high mountain alp beside the hut. The fresh and tastefull milk out of all this aromatic herbs right from the cows there, gives me so much power every early morning! That was realy the opposite lifestyle to that, what You can do at a "Schirmbar" and/or a five-star-hotel e.g in Sölden or Dubai!

Watch also actual Livecam of Rettenbach Glacier! Earth climate increase to the hot side! The steep slope Schwarze Schneid 1 is currently now out of snow - pure black ice only! (* Temperature +18-19° at 9 a.m. on 2670 m!)
Pure black ice? Sure, best playground now, for all this didicated "Prenium-" and "Luxury-Carvers" to explore the icegrip and running silence of their long and tiny shaped V-boards.
