VIRUS BOARDS

Post by Jakob » Thursday 19 August 2004, 10:06

Hi!

I hope that post won't upset EC guys, but I was wondering, since we all want EC to evolve as much as possible, if Istvan or Pokkis or perhaps someone else could tell a bit more about Virus boards, especially EC one.

Please, be as objective as you can and share your knowledge and experiences with us and if possible compare boards...

Thanks,

Jakob

I have Sword as one of my boards, but my experience of that is minimal due i got mine during this summer :D but eagerly waiting for snow to test it more. Unfortunately there is also some other new stuff to test too :evil2:

Sorry, I mixed up Pokkis and Skywalker  Hopefully I will meet you both once and this mistake won't happen again

However, thanx a lot Pokkis for your reply and no offence...

Bye to you all,

SPECS EC VIRUS

Post by Hans » Tuesday 24 August 2004, 21:01

Some specs I got from Frank Dietzel along time ago this year. But since the new site is coming up very soon and the info of this newby was also at the latest ISPO, it isn't that a secret anymore.

We make our 175 only 22.2 cm wide
we use an elliptical sidecut and we build it custom to riders weight!
With the elliptical sidecut you can not only make the standard radius turn!
Can pick the color you want.

VIRUS also comes with a new hardboot, I think it will be a remolded and redesigned UPSboot. Time will tell.

I think it's good for the sport that more brands will offer some ECboards, makes the success of the only and first ECboard there is, The SWOARD, even more successful. Hope the guys from SWOARD will find a new factory which will produce even better SWOARDS.

VIRUS as well as SWOARD, I find fine and well made products.

Greets, Hans.

Virus Boards

Post by István » Wednesday 25 August 2004, 9:15

Hey,

What Hans writed is correct.

I can not add anyithing on the performance, since as I've already told to some of you I had a bad back injury in March, hence no testing was possible. (coming back from Italy, Livigno and stopped by in Austria, Murau for the Hungarian snowboard championship to show a bit of EC to racers.... :-) .... and screwed up one turn because of a little kid and ended up out of the slopes with a pain in my back)

So, now healing is almost 100%, end of September or beginning of October I'll test the stuff in Sölden. I'll come back with my findings.

Until then all I can say is that it looks great, precise manufacturing, nice design, seemingly good flex. We'll see how it works with TD2.

Again, I have no intention to advertise Virus here, it is also a fact (and Nils can justify it) that my first choice was Swoard, but as production was stopped I had to find an alternative. So, good luck to the Swoard team in restarting production and I'll try to make it to Zinal this season to compare boards and maybe to test the new Swoard.

Cheers,

István

Virus boards

Post by stone20100 » Wednesday 25 August 2004, 15:22

Hi !

I saw several posts about virus boards.
I'm interested in buying a swoard but since they're no more produced,
i searched a board able to replace a Swoard. I visited the virus homepage but nothing is told about a specific EC board. What's this board ?
Is it available in France and is it really good for EC ?

Thanks

One option for EC board could be Donek:
190 Petersen GS 191 174 13.00 29.3/23.5/29.3 9.5 650USD
Not for small boys but for grown men

Hans, Virus is not promoting this board yet. However, this weekend in Sölden there were 2 at the Virus test place.

You might want to contact Frank directly in this matter.

Kindest,

István
