About test TD2

Reading, the last post about the test of TD2, Jacques bent the bindings bails, riding only 3 days,

The wire of the bail is 6.3mm seems strongs

I am wondering to buy a pair of TD2s since the dollar now is weak, but have read of Jacques' problems with the bails. The question is: Does Jacques ride so hard so only he will break the bindings? Have other with TD2s experienced the same problems with the bails? In other words should I buy a pair? If the bails break, is it possible to use bails from F2 Race Titaniums?

Yes, buy them... There are no bindings on the world (for now) that never break, even the TD2...
When you ride flat (what is necessary for great extremecarving), the TD2 bails bend! Thus Jacques is testing/making bail metal that should not bend and break. To be followed.

What I mean "which is the motive"??, is if the bails bend for design, ride hard, weight rider........

Because once the bail is bent , your knees is touching , then we have a ride position problem . and if they bend only in 3 riding days ,UMMMMM!!!

this question is because as Harald, I am planning buy them , but if the bail bend riding, could be a problem, no????

Sorry , I forget it....

Because perhaps never broken, but have a bindings which bails are deformed would be tedious...........(also I ride with bindings flat)

i have bent mine but not much, like 2-3 mm, and since then it hasn't moved, and the position is still Flat ( did not bend enough to create cant)
So i guess it also depends on your weight, style, and how much you push...

Lets wait also for the option of having custom manufactured bails !

I bend the bails too much to keep a good riding position. My knies are touching each others so that I loose a lot of strength (this is the reason that I stop bending the bails).
The reason of this is that the steel is much too soft. It has not been hardened.

The ones I'm making are bent and then sent to a hardener specialist. So they have the double of stiffness than the original ones. But they are very expensive too.

Don't make me cry, I've just bought a pair....

Otherwise, let's face it: we do not all ride like Jacques. What's more: I guess we do not all ride like Nils, either. (no offense to you, Nils) So, those bails might not bend for everyone..... actually I have not heard about bending TD2s from anyone else....

What I would be curious about is the weight of Nils and Jacques (again, no offense, guys ). Besides the riding style, that would be the other main factor in my opinion.

Jacques, you have mentioned that it would be kinda expensive. How expensive?

Patrice has not reported any bending. No testing at all, or tested, but no bending at all?

jacques is now ( since his got second child) almost 125 kilos
I am fighting now to gain weight so i manage to go back to 80 kilos ( third child ).
patrice is now also near the 100 kilos ( 1m58) and intends to join the swiss sumo team!

Did not know that in Switzerland men give birth to babies, thus they grow fat instead of women...

It would be funny to see a 125 kg guy EC-ing....like a huge ball rolling down the hill

158cm with 100 kg is easier to jump over than to walk round....

So, coming back to the facts I am the heaviest (around 90kg). Still, assuming that you carve much better than me (which might be the case...) I still have a chance not to bend the bails.

If it turns out that I managed to bend them, then there are 2 consequencies:
- I generate extreme forces in turns, so I might qualify to the Swoard Team's level of carving
- I gotta pay a hi-price for buying the new bails developed by Jacques

By the way, I just started to think about and I do not really understand what forces make the bails bend. Maybe I did not quite get the point.... in what direction did it bend? Or I just do not know what a bail is.....

Yes or I break them.

This season I tried my old burton/Fin's and bent the rear bails in one step!
The only ones with I had no problems were the F2 race Titanium and the Phiocca. But I rode the F2 2 days long during the ECS and the Phiocca half a day only. So It's impossible for me to say if they will last or not.

He bent them too and decided not to use them because of this.

No idea at the moment because they are still not finished.
One of the reason of the high costs is a stupid one: the original bails are made of 1/4 inch steel wire that does not exist here in Europe. I had to machine a 7mm wire!

Well, I just bought a pair myself...... . Considering how the discussion is going I asked Michelle at Bomber to participate to this forum and tell us if and how they could help to solve this problem.
