EC Boot's

Post by DesertCarver » Thursday 26 February 2009, 23:38

Hi,I don't know if this tread as allready beeing posted,in case yes sorry.
It seems common problem for everybody, carver and racer's,to find a very performant boot,I see people buy Northwave 950 10 year's old for $925.00.My question is;if the Northwaves 900 &950 are such good snowboard boot's why don't any oder snowboard boot's manufacturer, or Northwave himself ,buy the Patent from Northwaves or just try to make a boot similar to this.Snowboard boot's sell nowaday easy around 450-500 buck's,and you get what you get.Does anybody ever ask some snowboard manufacturer to produce something like the 900-950?

Those most highest prices of 950's are typically by racers who prefer 950 over anything else.
There is plenty of options to get good carving, including EC-style, boots. Not ready as such but with small modiifications. Head and Deeluxe can be modded quite easily as good as NW's to these.
Running new batch of NW's is not economical, there are few threads here about that issue, use search to get them.

Here are three good threads about the Northwave hard boots. They are related to your questions:
With the Search tool, you also can find the threads about the spring modifications. Special tribute to Jacques Rilliet who was a pioneer in 1997-1998 by making his Northwaves softer, as he did already with the first Raichle in the beginning of the nineties.

DesertCarver, do You think, You will find now a bank, giving credit/cash for producing such things like "new" Northwave hardboots?
Ask US President Barack Obama for pledge up from $275 billion to $275,0002 billion!

... I see people buy Northwave 950 10 year's old for $925.00 ...

I saw once also a men on podium (less then 10 year's ago, around 2000/2001) with Raichle hardboots. His name was Schoch.

How come they weren't popular back when they were still being made? Were racers also too late to adopt them before they stopped production? If half of the worldcup riders use your product you should be selling loads.

Its indeed a big mistery and a lack of vision from the guys at Northwave to have decided to stop producing boots that were cheap to produce and easy sellers because of the reasonnable price, and then to get rid of the molds, which usually boot companies never ever do. But its not much we can do about it today...
Piping out Deeluxe seems the best choice today, despite the high price and the lack of invention from Deeluxe ( same mold for years)...
