Specific rules for screw force during plate installation ?

Post by Obrian » Saturday 10 January 2009, 23:10

Are there any specific rules that need to be followed when you mount the plates on your board ; I mean how much strength (momentum) can or may be applied on the screws ?
Is there any chance of turning the screws too hard so it gets dangerous to break ?
Do you need a specific momentum tool to install them ?

Thx.

normally the screws are adapted to the bindings...there is few risks to go through, and anyway the inserts have a bottom so its no risk to go through the board !...basicallly screw tight, verify after a few hours of riding and retighten if necessary, on cold snows the vibrations, chatters etc tend to unscrew some bindings so i'm using blue loctite so they do not move ( a tiny drop on the side of the screw only, not everywhere).

Why stupid ? its a normal question: how much torque can the inserts whistand? I have no idea, but now with many many boards produced we have seen only once a depression caused by a insert.. there has been no inserts failure so far...

So no worries ! ( board will break before inserts strip through the core)
