I agree with you also. I've done this many years (since '95) and I was very proud of it. I have to admit that 13 yars ago it was quite difficult to find around here soft gear.

But... have you ever tried softies? I ride in Salamon Malamut (one on the stiffest softboots) and I could not compare it with my soft LeMans. Not even close. Not to mention the boards specs.... Anyway... it's just me. It doesn't have to work for everyone

I bought new soft boots & bindings a few years ago, K2 skylord boots (stiffest they had) with clickers. Used them 4 or 5 days and sold them to a friend. Laces are a pain in the a$$ to use and lack response.
I ride twin tip all mountain boards from 159-186cm with stepin plates and Raichle 123s & 124s, with stance angles from 25*/37* to 38*/50* depnding on the width of the board.
Those boots are quite comfortable for me and very durable, 14yrs averaging 40-50 days per year.
convenience matters, I never stop or sit down at the top of the lift to strap in, stepin & go and weave thru the wet butts struggling with thier bindings

OK, I never sit down even of soft gear. In motion all the time  .
I sit only for a couple of beers :D
Anyway, the truh is... when I imagine myself in the first day at the first run ALWAYS: groomed + GS board.
