Which hard boots?
Hi all
I know that question has been asked, but I really can't find a complete and recent answer. So here we go: What hard boots do you ride and which one would you recommend?
My Raichle 325 decompose... so I need new boots, it seems.
I wasn't overly happy with the Raichle (alias Deeluxe), mainly because of the unadjustable flex, and the build quality.
These boots are sooooo hard to get - and even harder to try out. What to do? I really don't want to order blindly...
Thanks for your hints and tips!
Cheers
Simon

Hardboots
May be you can give us a hint with the wishes you have according the boots, may be I can help you out since I have a pair Northwaves .900 size 26.5 in spare.
- with what purpose do you ride (ex.carving, racing, carving)
- does the boots need to be superstiff or must be super flexible
- size
- stepin or standard
- and so on
Hans.

Are you looking for boots that suitable for EC? So, you need to turn on your mind to get that
I`ve bought Deeluxe indy and get BTS kit to made flex adjustable, Denis ( his profile memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=1601) made some surgery to extend forward/backward movement on those
so, i think most of people can tell you to buy some boots and try to make Northwawe from them
Not sure about UPZ only - too stiff
That`s device`s effort

left boot survive some surgery as you can notice.

Hans, link with the pictures only. Text is in Russian. You need to contact Denis, his nickname on this forum is device - i`ve posted the link on his profile. I think he has a translation of that modification.
I did not made such a mod on my indy as i can bend them same angle without cutting plastic
Check out this - http://carving.noredirectionallowed/HTML/bt2.html
there are few pictures, lines on the boot shows which part of the boot need to be removed or thinned ( where canting adjustment placed ). If you will have a questions, ask Denis. He could help.

Yes, for EC, and standard binding (F2 Titanflex). Size? In Switzerland 43.5, I believe that is close to 26.5, but I'm not sure.
How can those sizes be translated?
That would be GREAT if your spare Northwaves would fit - but how can we find out?

Seems to be too small
Hmmmm..... My size 43.5 seems to be rather 270 mondopoints... so 26.5 is too small

IMHO, 43.5 is 28.5
43 = 28
27.5 = 42.5
Consider also Head Stratos, which are really good for carving. Very comfortable and warm liner, with a good holding. "As is" they are quite stiff, and appreciated by racers, but with some tuning, they become great for EC.

Deeluxe 325T with BTS or Head Stratus Pro ??
Hi again
So, after digging around the net it seems there are two serious alternatives with regard to boots:
- the Deeluxe 325T with the BTS spring system
- or the Head Stratus Pro.
Maybe you guys know:
? Which spring stiffness fits best for EC?
? Does the Head Stratus Pro need to be modified with the BTS as well?
Quite confusing, I must say :-/

Head + ACSS !
Even if it's possible to mount the BTS on Head Stratos (see BOL forum to see the description), it's better to use the ACSS (viewtopic.php?t=1034), which I designed especially to be integrated in head shell. 2 set of springs are supplied.
Following feedback of many Head users, the softer combination is better for EC.
Head is better than Deeluxe for EC with Swoard board, because for the same feet size, the shell is shorter, so this allow lower angle without overhanging.

Re: Deeluxe 325T with BTS or Head Stratus Pro ??
You'd better go with the Deeluxe Track 700 T. I have them since this season and they are equally flexible in the forwardlean as my Northwave .900.simima wrote:Hi again

Re: Head + ACSS !
I had the Raichle 325 and didn't experience any problems due to overhang, so I guess this is not a factor.Arnaud wrote:Head is better than Deeluxe for EC with Swoard board, because for the same feet size, the shell is shorter, so this allow lower angle without overhanging.
I'm still hesitating between the Deeluxe and the Head.
The Head seems to include a spring mechanism (only forward lean?), but I can't tell how good it is in comparison to the BTS.
The Deeluxe on the other hand seems to need the BTS, and with the BTS, I don't see why the forward flex of the shell should be so important. I'm tempted to go with the cheaper 325T, because I don't see yet the advantage of the 700T.

You look at it the wrong way.simima wrote:I'm still hesitating between the Deeluxe and the Head.

First you try both in a shop (or on slope if you can). Then you choose the one you feel confortable and stable in.
Trust me there are very good chances only one will fit.
And that'll be the best for you.
If both feel alright then and only then you may ask wich is better.
