Joe de mannen/vrouwen,
it seems that this time there are going to participate several Belgian carvers
It would be nice to come one (or more) time(s) together for a Beer and a chat. We could share the table at saturdaynightdinner at Sorebois (if it will be organised).
Perhaps we all should wear a little Belgian flag so it will be easy to recognize eachother?

SILBER you find one of our new things !! Arnaud will provide to each of you a badge with your name !!

Yes, of course ! The database structure for preparing badges is already done.
Name, nickname, country, and country's flag.

Other Belgians have already come to the ECS in the past!

For example the Lust family: the father Jean-Pierre and his 2 sons (
Dave and Xavier) have Swoard boards. The 2 sons are 20-25 years old.
I don't know if they can come this year to the ECS. But they are often in Grimentz for the holidays.

Yep, I know, I've met them 2 years ago. He had a little Belgian flag on his Swoard
Common language at ECS isn't Flemish and it's not easy to recognize someone only by there dialect in (most used) English or French.
So the nametags will be very helpfull.

Not to forget:
our (very) little country has 3 languages
North part: Flemish (Dutch)
South part: they speak French so could also be from France...
far East side: they speak German so could also be from Germany, Austria, North-Italy
Hurray for the Belgians! Exept there soccerteam
So far this geografic and linguistic lesson

badges looks like below
For Belgium I can easily add between brackets (F) (NL) or (D) for the spoken language.

Hi Arnaud, I think it's not necessary and it will give less visibility on the badge.
If Erik or all the other Beligan carvers are searching people from Belgium who're speaking their languague they can ask them directly. In a multi language country, I am sur that they received some basical languagues courses at school.
The languague problem is a welll known problem in Swizerland too.
We are a smaller country than Belgium with 4 national languagues and a lot of people are only english speaking so we can count 5 national languages !!
So all the people at the ecs are really friendly and easy going, you can try to speak with them and try to over pass the language barrier.
Regards,
samanta

I'm not against the flags! It's cool to see where people are coming from, and not really a question of language.
But the flag should be smaller (it's not Olympic Games, hihi), and showing the Forum avatar would be cool. Most people remember the images better than the nicknames...
Thank you Arnaud for your work!

hmm, size of badge is not 1:1 scale on the picture (screen capture).
True size : 10 / page = 100x60 mm
Adding the avatar is possible, but it's a long stuff to dl all avatars, and many (about half) don't have avatars. The place on the badge is also limited, so, according with Sam, we decide to increase name's size and cancel avatar.

I'm not making any problems about the different languages of a country!
Would be stupid if there is a conversation in English between persons who have the same (other) language.
I know, with a little chat, one could discover that but hey, the more we talk the less we carve
So a "basic" badge with (nick)name + country(flag) like the example from Arnaud should be good enough
