Are Rossignol or Dynastar making any alpine boards?

Post by Gunnar » Sunday 29 April 2007, 20:03

I know that Ross used to have alpine boards. And i heard rumors that they would start again. Is that so?

dynastar is dead when it comes to snowboards...and i'll try to get info about rossi...but seeing the new logics of the company (quicksilver...) it seems like chances are small!

Rossignol stopped alpine board production in 2001. I have their before-last model 2000, 159cm. Anyway the shape didn't change for the 2001 season. But a great board! the longest they manufactured was 184cm. History: http://www.rossignol.cz/00_01/snow/boards/worldcup.htm
Board? Just a Choc, 180...

There are some Tomahawk Rossignol decals made in 2003/2004 for Rossi (184 GS and 16? slalom). Some were sold by a former Austrian racer on ebay last year and the one before. They do look like Rossis in pictures tough. Maybe even 04/05 were available - can't remember.
I think 02/03 could have been the last year. There was a newer design than those pictures (plain yellow)

Well I would definitely be interested in the 159cm and 184cm version if anyone finds them.

I'm fairly sure that Dynastar are neither making any alpine boards, nor considering doing so.

A neighbour of mine works for Dynastar (race ski development in Sallanches), but all the snowboard development has been moved to Spain I believe, so he probably won't have any useful information. I'll probably see him tonight, I'll ask him anyhow.

I spoke to my contact last night (took a bit longer than expected) who said that, basically, yes it is. He was a bit cagey about it, though.

My Contact at Gurit is also very evasive ;)
4000R is about 20-22% graphite ptex ( E is 10-11% i forgot)..
He told me R is very tough to repair... it burns :)
