Need advice for new board

Hello,

I ride hardboots and I really need some advice for a new board. Since I broked 2 boards, F2 Speedster GTS 166, in the last two years, I guess there wasn't the best choice [i'm 1.90/92/45 foot size]. I was looking for an all-mountain board that time, but it seems that I need more edge grip. [maybe Prior 4WD it's a better choice]

I am looking for F2 Silbepfeil 172, but some of you said that it's soft too. The Speedster RS sounds good too but I'm worried about ridding it on ice or bumps because its stiffness. Also Swoard recomand for my weight/height the longest and stiffest model. I'm a litlle bit lost ...
[i'm into speed/carving now].
Can't wait for yor oppinion.

PS: For a stiffer board do I need stiffer bindings? I have Proflex Carve + LeMans.

if you tend to break boards easily, it is likely that u are using front/back balance during the turns: very strong front foot turn entry, and back release... I assume you also break the boards in front of the front foot..
I'm not sure a Swoard is the good choice if you ride like this... its flex pattern is softer than a race board, because softer flex is needed for EC. The RS is way stiffer and i've seen very heavy guys rip on it and they did not break ..

What i suggest:
- get a Swoard if you think you can adapt to a push-pull / EC technique which means riding on both feet, and balance the G-forces around a full arc instead of only the end of the turn.
-get a F2 RS 178 at least if you want to rip race style!

In fact both boards broked just behind rear bindings. Maybe too much flex in the GT tail. Also some landings were performed on the tail.

I like high speed turns, GS style. But on ice or cutted snow I enjoy short and quick turns. Thats why I though that Silberpfeil could be a more versatile board. It's too flex?

RS sounds great, anyway...

Hi,

Couple of observations:

- landing on the tail is not something that you necessarily want to do with your alpine board.... unless you really want to break it....

- long GS turns and short slalom turns are 2 different things that would need 2 different boards. Of course you could do one with the other, but there are boards that are optimized for one OR the other

- the speedster is an entry level board of F2, it is soft both laterally and longitudinally (bends too much and twists thus looses edge). No wonder that you broke 2....

- if you want to do EC, Swoard is available now. There are also other brands offering wide EC and/or AM boards.

- if you are more into GS, the F2 RS is a nice board, you can even EC on it, but the width might be an issue. Francesco (alias Silber) can give you his views on that one.

- if you want something that turns quickly e.g. to rip it in more crowded runs, the F2 SP is not a bad option, I used to have one, but it has its limits. And also tends to dig its nose into the snow when it's a bit more softy. Virus can offer you typical speed machines for quick short turns.

Now I know that the GTS wasn't the right choice [the guys from bluetomato gave me a hint to choose this board ]. Some times I couldn't help myself the do some jumps ... my fault
I'm more into speed that into EC. So the FR will be !!! I hesitated cause once I used to ride a GS WildDuck and was a bit more difficult on bumped and crowded slope.

Hi Hera,

You Hungarian is very good where do you live within Romania?

As for the GS boards: you are right, they are not easy to drive in crowded, bumpy slopes as they were not designed for that... but speed you will get enough, for sure.

I will order this week the 177 RS 07/08 wich seems to be more forgiving than the previous series. Maybe it's gonna be more easy to handle in bad snow conditions or on moguls.
Please tell me you feedback on Virus. You have some hot models.
