We're rather having poor season in New Zealand. We've received enough amount of snow to open the ski field, but the temperature has been rather high. Lower mountain, slush spring condition already!

We have snow... now what I want is the board (I'm sure you guys know what board I'm talking about)! I'm ordering TD2 Ti and hopefully doesn't have to wait for long for 07/08 Deeluxe hardboot to come out...
Can't wait for next year...

Re: Oh yeah.
Not sure about South Island. I usually board in North Island which is, of course, warmer. Dunno, but compared to last year (which was awesome) this season saw rather poor coverage. For example, there is 50cm of snow in Cardrona now, whereas last year saw almost a metre of snow. It's definitely skiable, but I will not be surprised to find spring condition in August in lower mountains.eaglefly wrote:leeho730 wrote:We're rather having poor season in New Zealand. ...don't tell me i'm going to travel more than 15 hours to Queenstown for crappy snow

I'm flying to Wanaka this weekend and see for myself...

Anyway... welcome!
EDIT: I was at the small backcountry area in Whakapapa ski field today (19th Aug 07). Good wind-blown powder, had 10cm snow last night... was an awesome day!
I'm also searching for suitable slope for extreme carving...

Re: Oh yeah.
Hello there, I'm in Wanaka right now. Arrived in Queenstown on Sept1, big storm with plenty of snow and it has been awesome ever since....instead of snowboarding one week, I have decided to stay one more week. Till now I have been in different places and my favourites for Carving are Cardrona (not steep enough though) and TC.leeho730 wrote:I'm flying to Wanaka this weekend and see for myself...![]()
