Nordic Carving, Oppdal

Post by harald » Wednesday 20 September 2006, 8:37

If you are tired of lift lines and crowded slopes, join Pokkis and his team and try Oppdal. It is a special feeling to be only one riding a big mountain.

Luckily it does not only look nice, it really is 8)

This year there will be much more carvers around and we plan to shoot much more films, also from other even steeper and challenging slopes than Vangslia.
And that will mean that next years film  AOTC will be better than ever

Eaglefly,
Travelling from Shanghai to Oppdal might be little bit too long, but if you have plenty of time it could be worth it. One reason for the non-crowded slopes might be that the place is perceived to be a little bit remote from the more densily populated places in Scandinavia. However, you can get there by train or car, may be also by bus. And as Pokkis writes, there are even more challenging slopes than Vangslia (the slope on most of Pokkis's pics and videos), and, in addition, the off-piste possibilities are great when the snow conditions permits it, as this winter.

 I've checked everything already (thought of nice empty slopes, time and money saving maybe)...
But, the trip is quite expensive and not really time saving...SO, I keep somewhere in my mind the idea of coming to Oppdal and if someday I have an opportunity, will see then...I might have a few months off in 2008.

Oppdal Carving camp is now nice memory in our minds, plus huge ammount great shots by Vahur and almost 2 hours great video will guarantee plenty of material for season video.
But dont forget that there is only three weeks to nice season ender camp on notrth side of polar circle, Ylläs Ester Camp. And it is located very close to home of Santa. Visiting that is very easy on same trip

Nice blog to read and beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing them so fast. Seems you had a great time over there. Those pists look great to carve. Just so wide, didn't know those pists were that wide. I have to consider to join the 2008 session
