hahaha....problem is, becouse ? is if they try Virus boards to drive...István wrote:As a proud owner of 2 Virus boards I have heard many negative things about these boards, like:
'It scared the shit out of me when I first tried it'
'It holds so strong that your legs fall out of your ass'
'It was so fast that I shit my pants'
'They are f***in expensive'
And so on....![]()
when you try it than is easyer to compare board with others...
i heard only good about Virus...they are expensive, but Kessler is much more expensive

Well, EUR 1300 is way below what Virus asks for some of their boards.... The Zylon Gladiator I have is EUR 1800 (I am not that crazy - I bought a test board, though it was fairly new....
) and I think Frank (owner of Virus) even sells boards above EUR 2000.
Well, I think I hi-jacked this thread and turned it into an advertisement or anti advertisement
for Virus.... sorry for that....

It depends on what u order. If u go on their site you can get boards at a decent price.
The only ones they had for sale in Solden in November (Titanal) retailed for 1500€

The one on the e-bay looks like one of the older zylon protos, the one I bought has a bit newer design. But the e-bay one is nice as well.
Why is it so special? Well, this is what Frank says on his website:

Zylon, a World Novelty
The VIRUS board innovators are now building boards and skis with a totally new high-tech material made from synthetic spider strand. VIRUS is the first manufacturer to incorporate the totally novel “Zylon” –material in the construction of skis and snowboards. This revolutionary fabric has only recently been available to the sports equipment industry giving VIRUS winter sports equipment sensational performance by increased edge hold and smoothness as well as rocket like acceleration out of turns.
Zylon is the toughest man-made fibre in the world featuring higher tear resistance as well as greater thermal resistance and inflammability, compared to organic fibers. A natural single spider strand with a diameter of 1 sq mm can carry a load of up to 800kg. Zylon is modeled on its natural role model’s qualities the result being a coppery to golden shimmering layer with a tear-resistance that is 1.5 times higher as the strongest carbon fiber, along with an amazingly high break resistance. When used for the construction of skis and snowboards, Zylon not only increases the overall performance of the product, but also its toughness, durability and last but not least its exclusivity by a unique look.
So far, the Zylon fiber has been exclusively available for the defence industry, ballistic aerospace departments, but now this material is also available as for the sports industry. VIRUS is the first manufacturer to incorporate this material of the future in the construction of skis and snowboards.
The models of the VIRUS Extreme Series can be ordered as full Zylon versions and the other series’ models are available with Zylon reinforcement from this season on. There is only going to be a limited edition of 50 boards each year due to the rareness of the material and its mechanically extremely difficult procession. So be sure to order your VIRUS Zylon board quickly and let it take you to the top. Just be exclusive!!
---------------UNQUOTE--------------------
What I can tell you is that it rides extremely softly and swiftly but at the same time it is still agile and responsive, so the softy feeling does not come from the fact that the board was soft. Infact it is kinda stiff. You do not even recognize when you cut through soft bumps, ice, slushy snow, whatever.... if I wanted to compare it to cars it is like an active air suspension - soft feeling, but infact very sporty.
Pogokoenig tested one, he can give you his views and Nils tested mine, so he might have some words to say as well.
Best

i tested istvan's board:
its a great board!
Great ( amazing) dampening, smooth ride, very pleasant to tilt on edge too. Grip is phenomenal but its not made for EC ( the nose design does not work when the board is vertical: the board cannot handle the pressure and the nose releases the grip when i pushed the nose heavily ). I think its the best ride I've had on narrow boards so far ( comfortable as hell, grippy, lively). I'm not a fan of multiple radii boards too, so that is the critic i'd put on the board: too narrow, too small and unpredictable radius for my tastes.
If someone wants to spend so much money on a board for freecarving and racing i'm sure its a top choice !

Great Board,
i found it that great, that i've ordered one yesterday. Sure it's not made for pure EC Riding. But total laydowns are more than possible.
