Should board be bended so that center point is touching floor also? naturally that is not possible with 90 degree angle but on lower ones

Good question pokkis !
Maybe it's better to bend the board to measure the angle, but it's not very easy. I use this trick to set my bindings without bending the board and I'm satisfied with the results.

This type of measurement will give different results depending how much sidecut board has. Shorter radius on same length board would give different angle than on longer radius.
But that is very simple way to test setup, and main thing is that it works

Hi Everybody!

I've been looking for a way to set Bindings ever since, so I was very happy with your pics that show how to set Bindings.
I tried it just this morning and I found out that the board has way more than 95 degrees on the frontside and 90 degrees on the backside when shoes are fixed.
But shoes look like in the middle of the board with same overhang/no overhang when looking on the board flat on the ground.

In your Pic "Dscn2495.jpg" I see A LOT boot overhang.

I'm absolutely new in EC Style and I'm trying to lay down more year after year. How can you do EC style with that much boot overhang? In the past years I had to increase bindings angle now up to 65 degrees on the front foot not to touch the ground.

According to your setup suggestions I would have to set boots more to the front to decrease the 95 degrees, but when looking at the binding and board edge next to the binding I wouldn't think to set the boot more forward.

If somebody could help me I would be very very grateful.
I could attach some pics if that helps the cracks to help me.

Hi,

don´t make the setup too complicated.
Center the boot in the middle of the board. Do not move the boot more to the toeside or heelside, put it centered.
As next step adjust the binding angle in such a way that when you put the board on the edge that you get 85 degrees. All of this you can see in the pictures from Arnaud.
The boot overhand you see in the picture could be misleading. It is ok because he had 85 degrees when he is putting the board on the edge.

With this measurement setup one will get small ammount of over hang.
If that is problem or not, that is another story

If one will not get any over then set board on base with boots on bindings and measure that outest place of boot is max 90 degrees from edge of board.
That will give slightly higher angles, but that way it is easier to adjust boot in center of board.

Ironmike, the trick is the following:

(i) when you do this exercise on the floor the board is not bent, while in a turn it is
(ii) that is why you see the overhang but still able to tilt the board up to 90 degrees as the nose and tail are wider than the waist
(iii) during a turn the board will bend and the nose / heel might touch the snow
(iv) if the snow is soft you'll survive, if its hardpack the over hang will decrease the edge preassure and you'll skid
(v) you will never lay it down to 90 degrees on the slopes so if you do the exercise on the floor and tune it until you reach the desired 90% you'll be ok on the slopes even having such an over hang

Yeah, Pokkis, that makes sense!
Thank you very much. It's exactly as you said before. It depends massively on how much sidecut the board has. In theory: When you have an ultimate-extreme sidecut and without bending the board, you could put boots size 12 in 0 degree angle and still don't touch the ground when you flip it on the side (90 degrees to the floor).

I think I got it now. I understand what you're saying. In the past days it happened quite often on my board that the angle was not enough, I touched the snow and blew the whole thing.
I thought that EC carvers really have their board in almost 90 degrees to the ground when doing a laid down turn.
I can't wait to try the new push and pull technique to lay down more.

Heard that there is a longer Gladiator coming, some wider than the new 192cm Undertaker (width 14cm).
