Chinese carvers ?

Post by Omega » Sunday 19 March 2006, 17:29

Just moved back to Beijing again, this time also with a board in the luggage. Met some chinese carvers in WanLong a couple of weekends in Jan and Feb, but no foreigners...
Anyone out there ? Or with plans to go to China ?

- red at heart -

Hi omega,
I live in Shanghai, we can try to meet next season around Yabuli or Beijing (I think now it's too late for skiing in northern china, isn't it?); i'm right now in france for vacations until sunday and will bring back a board and shoes too!

That's great to have someone else in China

Cool to find someone even here !

Sure - all the sites around Beijing closed 3 weeks ago, last day in Nanshan it was bikini skiing day / unfortunately I missed that as I was in Norway on a skiiing holiday on mothers earth natural snow..... These last days here in BJ its been more like a north european summer so not strange its closed.

Not sure about WanLong, they might still be open. :-( had no time to check this up the last weeks as I have been to busy to get the business going.

Have you been to YabuLi ? Was sooo close to make it this year in spite of the very bad snow situation they had almost until end of Feb. Have heard both good and bad things about the place. Spoke with an american ski trainer in WanLong who claimed WL was the best place in China. Not biggest, but with steep enough slopes and NEVER too crowded, not even in the weekends. The 3 weekends we spent there one was virtually alone in the red and grey (not really black) piste. Superb for carving as the slopes were superwell prep.

Lets meet next season ! Beer is on me... (have a nice account for d&d)

- Long board, short board.... as long as it turns it's a good board -

No never been to Yabuli, only heard about it; actually, the only time I tried snowboarding in China was at the indoor ski in Shanghai
Slopes are a little far away from Shanghai so usually I prefer keeping my days off for vacations in the french alps  - last year I almost went to Japan, as it takes almost as much time from SH to go to japan or harbin and slopes seem better, but my board arrived too late.

If you say WL is good for carving then it's a very good news and i'll go for sure when the snow is back  Let's keep in touch then! BTW, I love beer :P

你好 Omega! 你还在北京吗?
If you're still in Beijing let me know when slopes are full of snow, I need fresh air and carving sensations. BTW what kind of board did you bring with you, for SB or HB  ?

To yyzcanuck, no trip in Shanghai yet?

Cheers,
