ECS 06 Pics/Vids/Reports
Guys, just thought why not launching a thread like this to have everything in one place.
As for myself I don't have pictures, neither videos, but enjoyed the weekend quite a lot - it was great to see you all guys there and dig trenches together into the slopes of Grimentz.
What else can I say - see ya all next year!
Best,
István

Good idea
Good idea, Istvan.
Nice to meet you, only did not drink Jägermeisters with you. May be next time. By the way, never seen a guy made such nice trenches at such irresponsible high speeds as you with your Virus, incredible!!!
Greets, Hans.

Hans,
2 things I have to add:
- I have asked for a Jagermeister, but they did not know what it was. They looked at me if I was an alien....
- As for the speed I have to admit that it is rather a control issue than a skill or braveness on my side....
There was a run where 2 cameramen were standing there and I really wanted to do a good run , but was too fast even in the first turn, not to mention the followings..... finally I don't know how but managed to stay on the slope without any skidding or braking - maybe it was my guardian angel watching over me...
Maybe this was the one you saw, otherwise I tried to keep a moderate speed.....
Cheers,
István
ps.: I think I remember when we met on the top of a steep one, I think it was not the one when I scared myself to death... then maybe I'm really fast...

Yes, that was the one, I was standing on top of that piste, my wife was standing at the bottom. The only thing she saw was a cloud of snowsprays and you were about 50 meters away of that spray . So think it wasn't Istvan but a (VIRUS) alien who went through Mach1.

I hope I'll see more on the videos/pics than a big spray.... on the first day's video my only appearance was a screwed up backside when I'm hitting the ground angrily with my fist when loosing the edge....
If we are talking about big sprays, Skywalker is the real pro - after his first turn all the rest was hidden by the cloud of ice he ripped off from the surface....
I think he should change to Icewalker from Skywalker based on his performance on the slope beneath the gondola....
Cheers,
István

Re: ECS 06 Pics/Vids/Reports
I repost here Nils' request:
Patrice Fivat
I have very nice pictures but no time to resize / compress / post them for now. Moreover I return to Zinal / Grimentz on Saturday for 10 days... So please be patient, I will place my best pictures in the gallery after my holydays.nils wrote:We are going to build the gallery!
Please send us via email ( my adress nils@e..........g.com) your pictures if its just a few. Please select only the good ones, and try to avoid 300 kb sizes. Max size for emails is 10 mb each max.
we are looking also for high res group pics: a few big sizes would be nice those can be as much as 2 mb!
If you took many many pictures, please zip them in one file, and use www.yousendit.com so we can download them easily
We will be using another gallery with more options !
thnx!
Nils

Great session!
We were lucky again this year: as for the 2 preceding sessions, we got 3 sunny days!
Snow conditions are however bad in Zinal this season: people in the area had not seen so little snow on February for 40 years! Fortunately we could move to Grimentz (8 minutes away) where the conditions were much better. It had even snowed 15 cm right before the event, making the slopes very good.
Thank you to everyone for coming and bringing a nice atmosphere
The evening meal on Saturday, with so many people, was amazing! More than 150 persons have come for 1, 2, or 3 days, or even more Moreover we got many girls this year

Guys!
I'd just like to say the event was great! I learned loads from Jacques on his training sessions . Now I know what I've been doing wrong all this time . I was very impressed by the general high standard of ECing of the majority of the people. It was very nice to meet so many friendly, enthusiastic and great carvers, and to put a face to some of the forum posters.
Nils, Jacques and Patrice, thanks for organizing such a great event at such a small cost and it was nice meeting you all . The evening dinner and wine up the mountain with the video from the day's filming was very nice. Thanks again for the t-shirt too . I can't wait to get back on my Swoard and practise what I've learned! I hope I'm now able to master linked laid turns before the season's out .
