EC12 vs XCR boots
Upz has launched a new model for extreme carving XCR . I wonder what are the differences with the EC12 model . I know that EC12 that I already own are developed by swoard team especially for extremecarving so my actual inquiry is if xcr is an upgrade from swoard team

The last XCR have still the spring system from UPZ, and not the exclusive system "EC-Box" by Swoard (made in Italy, assembled by UPZ for us, much easier to mount/unmount and with ISO springs).
Another difference is that the plastic tongues are mounted with screws in the front middle of the hardboots. This is similar to the other brands... In the team, we really prefer the EC12 system (as in the AT8 and RC12) because it's a lot easier and more comfortable to slip your feet into your hardboots. This has always been an advantage of UPZ.
Finally, the EC12 is actually a package! It includes extra tongues (value 80 €), extra springs, extra parts and a tool for the "EC-Box". We propose a price for the set that is lower than the single XCR (priced at 900 € VAT included).
The EC12 out of the box have a softer and more progressive flex (in the ankle area) than the XCR. But you can change the anthracite tongues for black ones (stiffer) and/or change the springs (stiffer). A manual inside the box explains this. So everyone can find something adjusted to its taste, with the goal of making original EC: fully laid, fluid, dynamic, light, inspired from surfing...
Note that we worked hard on the damping (testing various plastics on snow): in the afternoon, we love cruising at high speed in the bad snow, or in the muggles, what is not possible with the stiff models.
Well, this must be in harmony with the bindings and the snowboard, the whole setup contributing in the damping and smooth style.

I just realized that you your ECS event has just wrapped up and perhaps delayed a possible response to email I sent to orders@swoard... I am interested to know if the EC-Box may be avail separately?

The EC-Boxes are only fitted on Swoard-UPZ EC12. Developed by Swoard, they are manufactured in Italy and fitted by UPZ, with some UPZ components. Therefore, no kits are available. They form a complete unit with the hardboots, which we have also modified for EC, with a selection of specific plastics for use on snow (the orange color does not indicate the type of plastic).
You can try the DGSS from our friend Drupi in Italy.
