Symmetrical pressure on both feet?

Post by cmachine » Sunday 8 December 2002, 21:52

Hi

I had a wonderful day on the slope today. However, I payed attentions to some information I read on this site: Somewhere was written that the pressure on the front and the rear foot is distributed equally.

When I'm doing a frontside turn, most of the pressure I give to the edge comes over my rear foot.
This is very exhausting, because the most of the load goes over one leg only.
I tried to lean forward to give more pressure on the front foot. But this results in a bad carve (and sometimes in a flip over the nose :( ).

How is this with you? Do you have the same pressure on both feets? Does anybody have a hint how to distribute the pressure symmetrical?

BTW On my the backsideturn, the pressure is a bit more symmetrical than on the frontside turn (maybe a bit more on the front foot).

Thanks

:) Olaf :)

Hi Olaf,

Supposing your boots settings are exactly the same on both boots, your problem could have two causes:
- you don't do the rotation properly.
- your board is too soft in front of the front foot (I think this is the problem).

It could be this. I've one of these boards that is much softer in front than in back. Spec. the nose.

What about the others? Has someone the same problem?

hey olaf
are you using a heellift under the rear binding? if you got toomuch heellift, the legmuscle is forced to be constantly 'on power'. it is because this forces you to bend your knee, when you don't want it.
what do you think about?

Hi Roman

Thanks for the reply.
I tried all different settings (with and without cant/lift on rear and front). And you are right. It's better without cant/lift.

Last weekend I also tried a bit more body rotation on frontside and it became better again. An other reason may be the soft nose of the board. But this will be eliminated in january when the new board comes.

On backside it was the opposite. More force on the front foot (but not as asymmetrical than frontside). I could improve it by doing a little less rotation.

So my conclusion: It's necessary to have the right amount of rotation. Not to much and not to less.
