Well, I broke my fibula bone couple of years go. After 5 weeks, I was on the slopes again.
Of course the recovery time depends on your injury. Most probably your season is over, but think positive: you can recover you leg within the spring and even within the summer, and at the start of the next season you can hardly remember your broken leg and you can happily start the brand new season!

Sorry Katsunori
Strange thoughts in the ill mind of a boarder: Sh... he destroyed that Rossi... Oh well, His leg's broken, too.

Hope, You're all right again!!!

If you broke you bone, then it will heal for next season. Torn ligaments take much longer time, but this seems not to be the case?
If you want to read real crash stories, then John Gilmour's is quite terrible (scroll up for more details) and he was ready to take easy skiing in SES couple of weeks ago. So no need to worry!

Hi,
I broke my right ankle many, many years ago. It took a couple of weeks to recover. Unfortunately, it is not as flexible as the lefte ankle, but I am skiing and boarding (carving) with no problems. The important thing is to start building up the muscles after recovery under the guidance of an physiotherapist with expertise on sport injuries. It is also important to work with the flexibility in the joints during the training period. If you do that you will be on snow and enjoy carving next season.

I broke my front foot while riding in soft boots in Feb, 2001. It was a compound fracture, and I'm wearing some titanium screws ever since. Medics say it would be more complicated to remove them than to keep them in place. So I was on crutches for 2 months and got lots of physiotherapy. The following season I was up on the slopes again with no problems.
So don't worry, you'll be fine. Write off the current season, but you'll be ready for next winter. As Harald said, a soon start of muscle recovery under the guidance of an experienced physiotherapist is key. And follow closely the advice of medics and therapists. I guess it's important not to rush things. Be patient and persistent, and it'll work out fine.
Best wishes for a soon recovery!
