New Northwave 900
I am trying to convince Northwave to produce the 900 again. I already contacted them, but having a good idea of at least our internal demand would be of great help.

Poll on the French and German Forum
If any one could post the same poll in the French and German Forum (or a link to voting in this one) it would be very helpful and appreciated.

Modified Head
Hi Silber
Hmm, interesting ...
But maybe there is an alternative way based on Head Stratos Pro.
In the french forum, we have a long post about "tuning Head".

Should be comprehensible for non speaking french people because a lot of pictures.
After some cutting and addition of a new spring system (called ACSS), the behaviour looks very close to Northwave.
I've sent an ACSS to Patrice. Since he is experienced with NW, we are waiting his feedback.

Hi
Sorry to be pessimistic but i dont believe that you could get 100+ interested ones, which i think is absolute minimum to run production
But also like to share my personal feelings why i would not select 900's, there is no change to get Intec step-ins work with them, according my understanding they dont come with thermo inner boot ?
I think, this is my personal feeling
, you can get DeeLuxes working as well, with spring mod, but only if mod allows you set boot more standing position as they do on standard version. This is specially problematic on RAB versions, they bend your legs too much forward.
But good luck for your project anyway.

Go on!
Hi Silber,
exeptionally I do not agree with Pokkis
. I thoroughly analysed the Dee Luxe boots and found them a total misdesign. I belive, a NW boot with the option to add an intec heel is urgently needed!
Liners are available anywhere. NW should just give some info to customers, which size will fit to which shell size. Even UPZ understood the need for good liners and has three qualities available now
Good luck with your project

Having a pair myself, I would buy them again.
However if they are making them again, I would suggest:
-EC compatible springs
-temperature independant tongue (they are really hard below -10C, at least for my 130lbs)
-better lining (thin and uncomfortable).
I would buy them for the small footprint, the spring systems, no Intec needed here.

Re: New Northwave 900
I have heard that Northwave stopped the production because they were selling less than 5000 pairs per season! Yes, 5000
It was not interesting enough for them

I personnaly love the .900 because they are very comfy!
The liner is firm but great: basically it gives me the impression of having a custom liner with the cost of a cheap one

Re: Modified Head
Wow, that modification looks pretty impressive. Once you get a review from Patrice, you should post it in the English section. Did anyone try the mod on a Raichle boot?Arnaud wrote:In the french forum, we have a long post about "tuning Head".

Yes, and 5000 pairs with different size ! That means a mold is used for very low quantity batch. Let's say 2000 for the most used size and less 500 for small ang large sizes.they were selling less than 5000 pairs per season
Economically speaking, injection molding process is not lucrative for an industrial company

I also contacted Northwave, but they replied to me that in near future they don't plan on producing hardboots. And that was about it. It is worth asking them however and if I guess if we can get more people into alpine riding companies might again become interested into production of hardboots.
That would be also good for other reasons. Just for consideration: a couple of years ago (3-5), when there were still other manufactirers of hardboots (Burton, Northwave, Oxygen, Proflex, Alpina...), prices of hardboots were considerably lower. I remember Raichles costing less than 150€, when now virtually the same model is more than 300€! No, it is not due to inflation and no, I seriously doubt that the production cost has gone up. Monopoly?
BTW: Does anyone know what is going on with Head boots? Our official importer and distributor says that Head stopped the production of hardboots two years ago and it is impossible to get them here. However, on Bomber site it says that the head boots they are selling are 2004/05 model! Can someone explain please? Thanx.
Good luck and I hope it goes well as I would urgently need a new pair of boots!
Bye,
Jakob
