Extremecarver Gen4 > first info
I saw that the Extremecarver Gen4 will be available in October. What is the difference between generetion 3 and 4?

Re: Extremecarver Gen4 > first info
The Extremecarver Gen4 is an evolution of Gen3, as the iPhone G4 is an evolution of G3.
It has a new top sheet (the graphics has still a dominant red color) and - the most important - an improved dampening, which gives more comfort on ice and bad snow.
Pictures and detailed info will be available on October. Thank you for your patience! The boards are being made right now in Swiss factory close to Lake Geneva. They still are quasi-custom: 3 sizes and 5 flexes.

Re: Extremecarver Gen4 > first info
We made metal prototypes 3 years ago already, but we are not happy with them for EC yet if we make comparison with the Gen3. Moreover the Gen4 will bring some "metal-like" comfort features. Of course the search about metal use is continuing. A good coupling with the ATC Matrix could give interesting results.
An additional model (not a "generation") with a different program could be added to the Extremecarver and the DUAL, but not before 2013. Patience...

We prefer not to say too much before the products are ready and the customers can test them.
For example, people saw nothing about the 3 years development of the DUAL (except a few persons who saw Jacques and me riding with a strange green board).

The Swoard web site says it will be announced on October 26. I'm also waiting for it, this will be my first EC board after 20 years on 'normal' alpin boards.

metal:
I know that it has been questionned here and on bomber that we should go titanal, but it's definitely not as simple on a wide board compare to a 20cm race board that is not designed to bite the snow for circle carves uphill and benefits from the titanal.
We have been testing full titanal Gen3 three years ago, and the result was surprizingly bad. The width of the boards made the board very stiff, and it was very difficult to recover from non-perfect turns. The board was very tiring to ride, and lost all the comfort of the actual gen3. The turns were locked and all the progressiveness of the torsion control induced by the ATC was lost in the process. The only good thing was the great dampening, but an unriddable board with a perfect damp is not what we are looking for.
This is why we decided not to go into that direction until we could find some other refinement to it. Remember we are experimenting and pursuing a board concept with small touches of refinement. Some brands just restart from scratch each time, loosing the good they have in certain models instead of capitalizing on them and improving them. We feel its a waste of knowledge and, for the mainstream brands a total lack of intelligence ( guided by marketing people).
So wait for the news

But there is a chance that it has a resemblance to the black prototype doing some work at the ECS 2011?
It doesn't take a surgeon to tell that this is, way out of the box, you know out there kinda stuff

Yes, our prototypes are black color. No identity.
We are looking for a good new model name.
