Unpleasant experience with Oakley...

Post by RicHard » Tuesday 15 May 2007, 22:22

Hello,
this post is just to share with you a very unpleasant experience I had with Oakley.
In brief,
I had a small scratch on one of the lenses of my Polarized Black Iridium Oakley (my fault).
I wrote to Oakley Euorope 4 emails in two months (to ask how could I solve the problem) without any answer , even if I was reading the notification of their readings!
Finally, when I put also the american address in the cc field, I've got an answer ("contact our local support").
The supporto told me that I have to buy TWO lenses for 135 euros, even if just one was scratched.
135 euros are almost the 70% of the total cost of brand-new sunglasses!
For a scratch, I have to pay TWO LENSES for 70% of the cost of the sunglasses.
Commercial policy? "Strategic strategy"? I disagree with this. I'm just a very unhappy customer that will move somewhere else when buying sunglasses.
Maybe many of you already know such policy but I would like to share my experience to save the ones that doesn't. If I knew such policy, I wouldn't have bought such expensive Oakley sunglasses. I was prepared to pay a little bit more (ok, it's oakley) but I DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR SOMETHING I DON'T NEED (the second lens).
That's all.

Hope you will not have the same trouble.
:?

Ciao!

Hi,
Oakley is a bit cockey also with the shops almost dictating them what to do and not to do. So why buy Oakley at all? There are so manny other good looking and very good goggles at the market.

Same for fashion brands

Post by eaglefly » Wednesday 16 May 2007, 11:23

Actually a few years back I wanted to change the glasses of my (beloved) CD sunglasses and it was the same problem in France...not worth changing the glass compared to the total price of a new pair...well the solution I found is to have the work done in China for a few $$ but still, nowadays there are many things that are not worth to be 'fixed' anymore, you just buy a new one and put the old in the garbage cause it has become cheaper to do that way...crazy world...such a waste.

Well, actually, I will not buy anything that make me behave this (wasting) way.
It's easy. And I want to let all the people know such policy of some brands letting them decide to follow them or not.
Perhaps such brands, watching to many people moving toward other brands that don't behave this way, will review and will change their "wasting" policy.

Wow, 135Euros is a lot!!!

I replaced my glasses for different oakleys during the last 15 years several times. Last time was about 3 years ago. The highest price was 60€ for a pair. But 135€. 8O

Is ist made of diamond? My recommendation. Buy good goggles with different glasses for snowboarding and some really nice porno shades for posing at the bar. That's what I do and I am very happy with that.
