Hey Guys!
Yet another question(s) concerning edge tuning of the new 3rd Gen.
1. Homepage "Instruction manual" section still says:
Board leaves factory waxed and ready to ride, but edges can be sharpened a little bit more. Is it still valid for the 3rd Gen.?
2. Edge angles on the 3rd Gen:
What are the edge angles when it leaves factory?
Holmenkols Wax Guide says: Middle of Ski/Board about 0 to 0.5 degrees
Nose and tail about 0.5 to 1.5 degrees
What do you (PJN) suggest for new 3rd Gen

Coupled with 86° or 87° on the sideedge theese edges would be blody agressive. I'ld rather advise you to (front 10cm, middle long , back 10cm) as on the picture - 1°,0,5°,1° and 88°, 87°, 88°. It's not easy to make continuos differently angled edges though. Otherwise 0,7° / 87° would be plenty agressive and 1°/88° would be relaxed (1°/88° is what will be tuned in by most shops, sometimes 1°/87° - shops will pretty much never drop below 1° as this means instant reaction and would result in many crashes for not so good riders).

new board
new boards are sharp, but a razor sharp can be achieved manually..
it is advisable to do 1° on the base, and 89 or 88 on the side... its easier not to change at tips anyway and is not needed. The Extremecarver is a forgiving board that does not need perpetual attention and it is therefore less likely to catch an edge unwillingly.

The Swoard generation 3 is delivered waxed and the edge has a light sharpenig compatible with shipping. Edge has about 1° bevel on the base side, so it doesn't need any correction.
Personnaly I sharpen at 89° all my boards because no machine can equal manual work quality. This is done in a very easy way with the Tooltonic .
The wax is also applied with a machine and is not as efficient as hot wax (and not supposed to be). I would ride one day, then hot wax.
