Deconstruction of Lifted

Post by vkrouverk » Thursday 1 September 2005, 20:19

In order to learn secrets of EC :D I took some frames from excellent "Lifted" movie and combined them into one image: IMO this visualises technique somewhat better than looking video (or if not better, then it's at least good complemental material). If someone else is interested in such images as well, then they can be seen here:
http://www.swoard.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=1
(with kind permission from EC team to publish such "derivative work").
I have intention to create some other sequences as well, if they are ready, then I'll announce here.
Images are not "correct in space": i.e. that frame positions are moved in order to avoid overlapping (I think that more important is to see rider's position). But timely they should be more-or-less correct, fps is indicated in image (I hope that Quicktime exported images correctly in this regard :)

My ultimate target is to create similar sequences from my ride and compare them with master's style in order to learn, what and when I do wrong. I have strong suspicion about some mistakes, but need strong evidence and such photo comparing will provide it... But I won't publish my riding sequence, as it's not something to look at 8O

BTW, winter is not very far: today morning was so cold that I could see my breath already :clap2:

Very well done, vkrouverk! :bravo:

Hmm, however the end of my frontside laid turn is not perfect there  My shoulders and hips are not kept parallel to the board long enough. When I get up, I'm facing the tip too early instead of keeping a position that helps to close the turn better. But maybe I'm anticipating the next backside turn.

Jacques is more consistent on frontside laid turns than me. Make a sequence of him too ;-)

I believe that this is reason: second image follows first one right away and I had initial intention to put them together. But zooming was changed between last frame of first picture and first frame of second picture and I didn't like the result, so I made 2 separate pictures instead.

Frère Jacques

Post by vkrouverk » Tuesday 13 September 2005, 19:55

Frère Jacques, frère Jacques,
Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous?
:D

Added some more images, for promoting art and science of EC and swiss push-pull prerotation technique :P
With kind permission from EC team if someone wants to host images in his/her homepage, then it is allowed, provided that this is done non-commercially and image content is unaltered (do not remove credit texts from images!). If needed, then image could be resized and/or lightness/contrast/gamma adjusted, but, please, no other alterations.
If someone has suggestions for improvements, then let me know about: if idea is good and I have time, then maybe it will be implemented. But otherwise I'm done with it for now...

I wish I could have a T shirt made with one of these sequences on it. That would be perfect.

Hey there !!!

They are fantastic ! What software did you use to achieve this ?

I am a goofy rider and always found it difficult to have a good look at EC technique on EC vids, cause both Patrice and Jacques are regular...

But all I did now is I made a mirror copy of the sequence images.... and I have now both of them apear to ride goofy :) .. I noticed it while trying to print the image, so that I could make a T-shirt. And now I got one

I'll have a look for software that will allow me to mirror image the videos... so I can get them to apear to ride goofy.

Cheers
Bart
