Snow conditions in Zinal > winter is there

Hello riders,

Here is some news for all of you who were mopping during the Christmas holidays. It's true that the conditions were pitiful in almost all Alps, after about 6 weeks without any snow fall. And it was not really better in many other locations of the planet... which is warming! If bad season starts happen regularly (what is normal), so high temperatures is something new since we are making measurements.

But excellent news: it's snowing a lot since a few days. I'm in Zinal and I confirm that winter is there!

Here are some pictures shot on 6th January.

The slalom piste is absolutely perfect for EC ! The blue traces date from the day before, because there was the Women's Alpine Skiing European Cup.
Note that with the snow guns it was already good in December.


Ha! They are preparing the Barthelemy!!

Today it has snowed again 30-40 cm!!
Well, now it's serious. We are ready for the 13th ExtremeCarving Session (Jan 30 - Feb 1). Leave wives, kids and jobs for a great session!

Awesome conditions right now! Snow like in the Hollywood movies!

And the long-term weather forecast seems to show, on all models, the presence of a good anticyclone. Although it is in almost 2 weeks, the ratings are high.
Thus we should get wonderful snow conditions for the ECS (Jan 30 - Feb 1).

The snow conditions on D-4 are simply incredible. Look at this picture of the day, shot by José !



Despite temperature which is quite high in the cities, at 2900 m the Barthelemy is absolutely fabulous right now.

Weather forecast is very good. For now, it is planned:
- Satruday very sunny
- Sunday with some clouds (and 1-2 cm of fresh snow only...)
- Monday very sunny

Well, the conditions for EC will be probably the best since 3-4 years.
We could be about hundred participants, what is very good to keep good quality of the slopes all day long.
