One could think of using Nivea also as a Wax-replacement! You could then skip the ironing
just cover both sides of your board with Nivea!

that's a f...ing good idea!!This coulb be a way to eliminate the problem of dry bases !!
Next step would be to go to the cosmetic surgeon !!! He could repair all scratches in the base....
Life would be so easy....

Best thing for base of your snowboard is definetely not Nivea.
Bacon is the first choice and really easy to rub on.

Proceedings of the Space Sciences and Technology Conference
From YOSHIMURA SHOICHI Japan
The material is Zylon, one of the poly-p-phenylenebenzobisoxazole(PBO) fibers. .....
..... The bleaking strength of 1343N is measured, but light resistance test has shown that the strength retentions are about 52% for 127 solar-days exposure and about 32% for 394 solar-days exposure, respectively.

nctimes.com - SCOTT MARSHALL - Staff Writer - February 20, 2005
Jamie Zeppetella's lawsuit also alleges that Toyobo conducted tests that showed Zylon retained only 35 percent of its strength when exposed to visible light for six months.

Polymer Science and Engineering Department, University of
Massachusetts, Amherst, MA 01003
Article from Xianbo Hu and Alan J. Lesser
Additional data from Toyobo show that PBO fibers are also susceptible to
sunlight. Both AS and HM fibers loss more than their 50% strength
after only 3 months exposure at Ohtsu, Japan

Development of the ultra long duration balloon
... very long hold time system for use in NASA’s 100 Day Ultra Long Duration Balloon Project.
Early in the development process, it was learned that this material exhibited an unusual sensitivity to degradation by ambient light. This is in addition to the expected sensitivity to UV (Ultraviolet) radiation. The fiber manufacturer reported all of these properties in their literature. Due to the operating environment of the ULDB it is necessary to protect the tendons from both visible and UV radiation.

PBO has one disadvantage in that its strength is severely degraded by exposure to visible and UV radiation. Current ULDB platforms circumvent this characteristic by the use of pigmented polyethylene sleeves which shield the tendons from visible and UV radiation.
Ultimate Tensile Strength Results:
After 600 hours ( =25 days) exposure to UV light (340 nm UVA): 50.78%

ANDREA M. E SQUER 12 75 W. WASHINGTON STREET
The problems with Zylon® were made public after June 2003, when a Forest Hills, Pennsylvania police officer was seriously injured by a .40 caliber bullet that passed through his Second Chance Ultima® vest.
In January, the State charged Second Chance with violation of the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act in connection with bulletproof vests manufactured with Zylon® fiber. The State alleged that based on scientific aging tests, Second Chance knew Zylon® degrades rapidly and permanently when exposed to such common conditions as high humidity and heat, fluorescent light and sunlight. The complaint further alleged the company failed to disclose this information or even warn its customers about these test results.

Well, perhaps brand-new Zylon-butter will help.
When Zylon-butter is not avaiable, just visit next sport- or shoe-store, ask for some samples of black shoe-cream!

Anyway... I find a little bit stressing to think "ok, after this run, I want to eat a sandwich but... I have to put my boards in the shadow otherwise its strenght will raise down.
Boh?! Strange. Simply strange.
I would be anxious, thinking that every minute of riding in the sun "damage" my board...

Zylon may be sensible to direct light and other factors but why sould the zylon inside a snowboard degrade when it is totally isolated from light and moist?
Inside a snowboard every fabric is supposedly laminated with resin and isolated from light by the topsheet and the base.
Just my 2 cents....

For me the question is:
What is the worm's goal in writing all this? By now I know the content of his posts quite well, and I'm sure, it's not because he is in sorrow of anybody in this forum.
Let's state it clearly: Somebody here is trying to harm Virus. Maybe after the things that happened in the past this forum may be the best place on earth to do so.
Besides that someone is trying to provoke and to couse some arguing. So many things happened, that were a huge damage to the little community of hardbooters (how many may we be in Europe, hardbooting out of conviction, having this as one of our main hobbies? 1000? less?). In this community there are a few trying to destroy the harmony. The worm for me clearly is one of them.
The bad things that happened in the past few days made me thinking. Do we want to accept, that our little world is even more and more devided into small groups? Are we willing to allow asocial elements to be racist, not only in terms of nationalities but also in terms of brands, styles, etc? The result will be a harm to everybody to us, we lose weight and the last bit of a common voice.
I'm tired of this.
