Maybe another clue according to the Japanese/korean mystery :
I've just heard from people who has already been in Japan that "extreme carving" is related to ski carving ... it may be the reason why some korean or Japanese do not spend time on this site since it is a snowboarding forum ...

"Internet" says "where do you come from?" translates in Korean to this:

I voted for the rest of europe as well.

I didn't expected my country to be on the board as it's more famous for it's coasts the sea the sun and the beautiful islands that we have here than the snow resorts.
I come from Greece and I mainly snowboard in Italy.

If any of you are in water sports as well is a MUST visit Greece in the summer.

We should translate in Japanese

If you are serious about that, I would be more than happy to help. My Japanese isn't perfect, but it isn't bad either. I have been introducing a lot of my Japanese friends to ExtremeCarving (even though I can't do it yet) and everyone who sees it thinks it is awesome.

I know quite a few snowboarders who would benefit from having the Technique pages in Japanese.

Anyway, let me know.

Actually, that is not correct. "Aru" is only used to talk about inanimate objects. If you literally want to translate "Where are you from?", you could say, 「どこから来ましたか？」/"Doko kara kimashita ka?"

But, for the poll, it would be better to say any of the following:
「どこにいますか？」"Doko ni imasu ka?" (Where are you?)
「どこに住んでいますか？」"Doko ni sunde-imasu ka?" (Where do you live?)
「あなたの国はどこですか？」"Anata no Kuni wa doko desu ka?" (Where is your Country)

Computer translaters for Japanese are notoriously bad. If you want to have some fun, use a translater and translate from your language to Japanese and back 3 or 4 times. It gets quite funny (at least with English it does).

No problem. Always a pleasure to teach something new.

I will probably do that (message Nils)...first maybe make a mock-up of a Japanese page, get some friends to check it, and then send it to the admins.

I think this site would definitely benefit from a Japanese version. At the very least, it would probably sell more SWOARDs (everyone I've shown "lifted" to wants one). It would definitely increase Japanese traffic to the site, and it would almost certainly help out quite a few Japanese snowboarders.

I probably can't do it all myself, but maybe I'll enlist some of my students to help out for extra credit.

*edit*On a sidenote: It is kind of interesting that I am the only person in Japan who has responded in the poll.

There is gaining interest in korea ( even a EC site with patrice as a logo) and orders are waiting for boards to be shipped there
As for Japan, katsunori is the first Swoard owner there, and he is often on the forum ( as well as getting better in english
Maybe we shall open a japanese section with only one theme, so the random japanese visitors could ask questions..? Problem is moderation would be a bit tough hehe we would relie on you japanese speaking guys

Not making any gaurantees, but I'll do my best. Give me a month or so. I'll also put up a post on some of the snowboarding communities on Mixi.jp (a Japanese social networking site) and see if anyone is interested in helping out. There seemed to be a lot of positive responses (at least about the photos an videos) when I linked to EC last season.

Like I said, I probably can't do it alone, but I'll see what I can do. I'll be happy to help out.

P.S. look forward to at least one new SWOARD order from me, if not this season then next.
