Zinal is ready, R U ?

Post by pokkis » Wednesday 7 January 2009, 9:35

We had change to do quick checku-up for Zinal slopes at beginning of this year  so here is some feedback.
Positive:
- slopes are in top condition, better already now than during session last year. Durant and Bart were both incredible fine, nice hard even surface without any bumbs like last year. LeCol had still few brown spots but no major ones.
- had nice fellow carvers in slopes with perfect sunny weather, pictures will follow later today or tomorrow
Negative
- if you plan to park your car next to lifts, please reserve lots of coins, 1's and 50's due parking is 4.50 per day, park meters are very painfull to eat coins
- Thrift, athmosphere is changed, for me it is quite lame, plus beer selection is poor compared last year, and one medium size (0.4) and one small (0.25) beer costed 10Sfr. So i need to find new place to have my beers after slope and also look for another palce for dinner.

We stay at Trift this year (due Chantal is out of La Poste).

Patrice, is there another (cool) place to drink a beer ? (not The Pub)

Yeah snow condition are excellent. All we need for the ECS is the sun, because for sure the snow will still be there.

During these days, I discovered 'La Ferme', which is a cool place to have a drink, with sofa... But not too many places. It is a non smoking place, so was perfect to go there with the kids.

Yes, at the food & drinks stand! ;-)
At the last session, the beer reservoir was empty after one day! So we will have more liters this year! :D

One thing i forgot to report as hint

I stayed at Rothorn Hotel at Ayer. Bout 10 minutes by car to Zinal and bus leaves 10 meters from front door.
Nice hotel, so if you need place to stay, this is good option with quite nice rooms too.

@pokkis: Awesome pictures!

It's so hard, i sit here about (only) 3h away from Le Col and Barthélémy and still can't go there because I have to learn for my exams... :wall:

I really look forward to the ECS at the end of January!

BTW: Do you have your camera with you at the ECS like last year?
