Titanal

Post by Hans » Saturday 26 July 2008, 10:33

I think he means that boards with a titanal topsheet have a higher chance of breakage than titanal boards with some sort of plastic topsheet where the titanal is beneath.

I know of a metal Prior board that did that. And there is a youtube vid of Bordy with a broken Kessler. I don't know the circumstances they broke...... So there is always a chance you break a board, even when it isn't titanal but I never broke a board.

:D
That is what i was trying to say (there seems to be lots of horror stories of titanal boards breaking on the bomberonline forum) , when i ride my Kessler i have polycarbonate plates under my bindings. When you are spending so much money on a board you need to have some confidence in its ability and longevity. I am not trying to tell you what board to buy just let you know alternatives, but it sounds like you know the field anyway. The last board i snapped was a Salamon fastback it Exploded when i rode it off piste (admitidley i might have hit a small rock) I was on soft boots, maybe the moral of that story is always ride hard boots and alpine set ups. Anyway Codighel, i hope you get your Kessler :D . What size you looking for and do you intend to use visits or hangl?

At 8° degrees on 3500 m altitude now, they dream also about -new- snow!
Just at time there is heavy rainfall in that region (0° is above 4000 m altitude)

That could be at summer-time. One day rain is falling, next day some snow is comming.
Well, Zermatt Ski-area reach up to about 3800, 300 m higher then Saas-Fee, +300 m can help in summertime sometimes.

Yes, we have the highest mountain in Europe - Elbrus it`s above 5600 m - there is a glacier. This is about 1700 km of driving. Not sure how far Zermatt, but distance to Geneva is 2800 km.

You can compare the distances and imagine how long the driving is :-)
