Best binding for Swoard?

Post by Ironmike » Thursday 18 October 2007, 13:17

Hi ECers!

I'd like to ask the experts here in this forum for their advice.
I ordered a new Swoard (can't wait for it!!! btw)
Which binding should be use or can be used without problems?
I've read in several posts here that people don't like step-in Bindings on wide boards - such as Swoard - because of the missing lateral flex in the binding.
I already own a F2 Intec Titanium step-in (and have of course the intec heels on my boots). Can I use it on the Swoard or would people strongly advise against that binding. I'm new in EC so I think I would NOT feel a difference anyway.

Thx for your help
Mike

just a small help:

Wide boards need bigger ability to move lateraly on the board...the intec system is smart and easy, but it locks the boot lateraly because of the U shape of the heel part. This is why we have better results with non intec bindings that are also not too stiff on the board...

We have good results with F2 race titanium which is a good bargain
TD2's are good but need mods ( bails especially) for use on wide boards with lower angles

... after you have removed the canting in order to have them flat on the board.

Thx to all above...

I'll go for the F2 Race Titanium (no cants/lifts).

But there's still one question left: Does that binding work with intec heels.
Of course they're not needed, but as I have 'em on my boots and will also use 'em on my F2 Silberpfeil with intec binding, is there space enough for the bolts of the intec heels to be free in the race titanium binding? i.e. Can I close the race binding although I have the intec heels?

You can left your intec heels where they are if you use standard bails:
under your boots. No problem to use intec heels in standard bindings with bails.

Hi Mike

yes, the binding works with intec heels, I also did that for a wile. just for fun one day I mounted the original heels and was surprised about the difference. the intec heel is way stiffer than the original and that is quite remarkable, gives you more lateral flex and vibrations are better absorbed. since that I never ever rode with intec heels in the bail binding

And one thing which makes also big difference is that IntecHeel is thicker than standard. So you will have small heel lift on both boots and heel lift on front boot is slightly odd.

@Ironmike
If You are not heavy, You can try to ride with a softer hardboot and a soft F2-Proflex INTEC RS-binding. There is perhaps not so mutch control as with rigid plates, but on flat angle it let's You ride very comfortable. I usualy ride them with my wider boards (from 21.5 cm up to 26 cm width).
And at the last days on icy condition on Austrian Glaciers, I had a lot of fun carving with such a setup on a 26 cm Board, which I get last Year for free in nearly new condition (first serie of NdK MGL, amazing high torsional stiffness for a board from 1997/98, It sounds crazy but there is similiar ore more torsional stiffness, compared to a much stiffer Virus Team Edition and very much more torsional stiffness, then a normal, slight stiffer Virus!).
Gliding on Snowboards,
like Pogo, Kessler, Virus, Hot, Nidecker and others,
from 151 up to 183 cm and 14 to 27.4 cm width,
covering any kind of shapes with
any kind of boots and bindings.

Sorry Schneewurm!

I weigh about 93kg. I assume this is not what you meant with "not heavy" right? So this won't work
