Deeluxe boot tuning (SAB----->MAB)

Post by Marko » Monday 8 October 2007, 20:17

Hello!

I decided to manufacture my own SAB (Simon's Acceleration Box) called MAB (Marko`s Acceleration Box)

I found all the informations on the following link viewtopic.php?t=1822

I get the springs from
http://www.hennlich.at/kg/f_federntechnik/index.htm.

First I will try with softer and longer spring, if it won`t be OK I have also some stronger and shorter springs.

6 X 8 X 89 R=21,7 N/mm (HL 16 x 89) Forward
16 X 8 X 76 R=25,7 N/mm (HL 16 x 76)

12,5 X 6,3 X 25 R=30 N/mm (S 13 x 25) Backward

Bottom par is done, when I get the main part you will get more pics with installed MAB on the boot.

Looks nice! Do you plan mass production?

Cheers

Good job! :bravo:

It's good to see more and more people making better spring systems.

In 2002, at https://www.extremecarving.com , we didn't suspect that we were starting such a trend (for softer hard boots with good ankle system). But we are still waiting for a good model of hard boots that requires no tuning.

Well, at least deeluxe has acknowledged ideas from EC manifesto. From their homepage:
http://www.deeluxe-hardboots.com/html/features.html
Alpine boards are becoming shorter again, even broader and less hard. The binding angle got flatter and see there – its fun again riding with hardboots. Its possible again to follow the joy of carving all day long, really controlling the board and not vice versa.

Long, slim and extremely hard boards are good, but you need thighs like a tree trunk and a ridiculous condition. Its a good advice for those having all that, but the others should have fun riding a snowboard as well.

DEELUXE has set its goal to support all hardboot riders and developed a new setup for this reason. Several models in different grades of material hardness for various riders and styles.
IMO their buckle system in Track boots is already better than old one, now if they can provide decent forward flex mechanism similar to Northwave

The problem is, Dee Luxe knows how to produce a good spring system and built it into their Nagano (maybe another Olympics) special edition which was for some month even on sales at Blue Tomato (they got some left over to sell off - they were not intended to go in the open market). I have a friend who rides one of those boots with double spring produced at Dee Luxe. Off course that boot was special in beeing a lot stiffer than the Indy by that time, but it had a good spring system.

Why they don't put it into other boots noone knows? Maybe the racers at Nagano didn't like it so they dropped it?

And yes, the MAB SAB looks really nice. Damn I have too get a nice spring system too, boots with race tongues and locked at the back is simply too stiff.

If I remember, Benj has built some SAB with CNC's program...But I never see the result :x
Perhaps a small production for ECS ?...

It's a new model, or a "Indy" special edition ?

No that was a special model based on the Indy for professional racers by Dee Luxe 5 years ago if I remember the time correctly, a bit like the the Track 1000, it was not intended for open public. I don't know if any other shop than Blue Tomato sold it, probably not.

you mean these ones?
(see photo)

actually the spring mechanism seems quite normal?!
no double spring...
maybe there were 2 Salt Lake City Olympics special editions? One with normal RAB, another one with double spring mechanism?!

...or (could be) the guy who sells the boots took apart the double spring system and built in a normal RAB found on another pair of Indys... :D

Yeah the Salt Lake City Edition. Maybe F2 built it specially for some riders, I'm pretty sure it was promoted as a double spring system and is indeed a double spring system, however maybe my friend who bought the boot from an Austrian professional racer got a version modified by the racer he bought it from?

Hi,
I've a pair of Deeluxe Le Mans and i would like to "build" something like a RAB (something less expensive)
could you suggest me some dimensions?
I add an image showing SAB, I use this one because it's simpler to indicate the dimensions that I would need (I don't think to do something like that, I don't have machinery to do it).
I indicate the dimension with letter:
A : indicate the distance from the upper hole to the plate that separates springs.
B : indicate the length of the upper spring
C : indicate the length of the lower spring
D : indicate the distance between the lower hole and the beginning of the lower spring

could you indicate the rate of springs?
a special thanks to all of you that will help me
a simple thanks to all the others
