What a shame to throw away such a thing :(

I wonder how much effort does it take to design and build a new boot dedicated for free-C and EC.
May be there is someone here in the forum who knows how to do this and/or has some connections to people who know.

I remember there was a thead in this forum where was asked how many people would buy a new northwave. These would probably also buy a this new boot. thread

Most propably due cost issue, having them on books for several years will mean storaging costs, maintenance costs, book keeping costs and some other financial costs without any potential income and they tought that there never will be any new demand for old shoes

Oldtimer on the slopes?

The last brochure from northwave, selling the Point Series (.950 yellow-red/.850 black-grey/.350 flint-grey-blue) was from winter 1998/1999.
(if anyone is interested, I can paste some scan's)

The market at that time for the Points was very slim because of:
- old fashioned design
- looks like a Skiboot
- no step-in compatibility
- liner was not as comfortabel as others (seams at wrong position)
- 8 brands on market with about 40 different modells
- market was shrinking very rapid
- Hardboots was outlet stuff

At 1998/1999 northwave sells only 3 models of Hardboots, but 20 of Softboots.
So, why should they keep the molds, NW was focused to the future of the mass-products, not for several dozen Hardboots for each Size they can perhaps produce in 5 Years.

Yes I agree, there are also a vew hundert poeple wich love and ride a Citröen DS.
But don't ask Citröen for build this car again!

U-turn, U R right! Leave alone NWs. Let someone explain to Deeluxe what we need, I guess that would be equally good.

Nils, U volunteer? ;-)

Best,

István

Well

Post by nils » Wednesday 8 March 2006, 16:04

to be frank i have contacted a guy I know at deeluxe austria, and told him that we heard a rumor of a new HB by Raichle/Deeluxe and that we were ready to help them and tell them what we needed...he told me he forwarded my proposal to the design team.. no answer since ( was dec 2005)

As for the NW: commercially speaking they were unsalable boots at the time when they decide to stop ( ugly etc..) . But when watching the olympics and seeing that 80% of the riders had the .950 it made me think that something is fucked up in the system!

I believe, that people would ask, if there is nothing better available (as it is with Northwaves).

But hopefully new Deeluxe boots will be better. At least from images it seems that buckles are better, similar to Northwaves (so there is no more problems with freezed snow in buckle).

(december)Well, that's not a long time. That's only three months. Developing a boot with a new mold would a least take a year. And a decision making this new boot you don't decide that on a fridayafternoon. Deeluxe/Raichle are using the same molds for years and years now. The only thing they have developed through the years was the asymmetrical bootshells Indy/Suzuka (Af700/Af600). So it will take some time to decide and to make a new boot. I don't expext too much but may be they will decide otherwise. Some wishes I like to see in the new boot:
-a boot with a new suspension kit
-a boot with some lateral flex,
-better buckles
-(the reformable liner is okay from Deeluxe)
-and new bindingsystem with suspension with a digital display to set some
things like with skibindings (have you seen the digital atomicbinding!!)

Greets, Hans.

DeeLuxe 2006/2007:

They will put two models, with different flex of the older SB-Series on Market with new Buckels (like them on Ski-Shoes).
The Names:
Track 325 black, red buckles SFr. 579.-,
Track 225 grey, blue buckles SFr. 529.-

You can probable pimp it up with the new Bomber spring-system.
