olympic games boards

Post by Silber » Tuesday 31 January 2006, 11:45

I was just curious to find a list of the boards (hard) used at the Olympic games...for what I know this should be it:

Kessler
Coiler
F2
Donek
Prior
Spirit
Tropical Tube
Tomahawk
Virus
Oxygen
Nidecker
Hot
Volkl

Anything else? Some of the above that do not belong to the list?

Among them you have to find which boards are just decals ( hot sticker but tropical tube board for Isabelle Blanc for example)!
Good Luck!

All competition boards are custom and hand made with sponsor decals. Except Tropical Tube, Kessler, Tomahawk etc. that produce only custom boards

Boards by Nobile (custom) are being used by some german riders. Don't know if anyone of them is competing at the Olympics though.

I guess it is the same. I know from the german riders they go over to the factory in Czech Republic/Poland(?) to have their boards made. I can't find them on the internet, you probably should be an insider to get your hands on them - just like Tomahawk

Hi

Nobile is in Poland. As far as I know most of European Burton snowboards are made there.

Sigi Grabner Boards are made by Elan (AFAIK - Sigi Grabner says they are made in Carinthia - if there is any other raceboard producer in carinthia - well then it might not need to be Elan).
There should be some more riders on decals which are actually Elans. (For example all F2 raceboards are accordingly to some Elan sponsored racers I met made by Elan.

The old burton raceboards were produced by Oldenbürg (www.oldenburg.at) in Upper Austria. They still sell them but they haven't invested in R+D on raceboards but some decals of the old burton shapes with new materials might have been at the olympics too.

BTW: most Palmer BX boards at the games were produced by Kessler.
