Post by rcrobar » Monday 2 July 2012, 21:08

Hey Rob, I can send it to you and look what the sending costs are. Just shoot me an PM with your info/address. Since the EURO is pretty low nowadays, that can't be a biggy.

Sending Bison

Post by rcrobar » Tuesday 3 July 2012, 7:09

Hi Hans

Thank you very much for this generous offer!

For now I am going to try some E-6000 and experiment with a variety of auto body adhesives that are already in Canada. My guess is that it is probably too expensive to ship the relatively inexpensive Bison material to Canada

If I don't have any real success the the E-6000, I just may take you up on your kind offer in the future.

Thank you again Hans.

Cheers
Rob

I tried Sikaflex after reading peoples' opinions about it and am quite happy. This was my first season using a glove covered in Sika. All it needed was some careful application at the beginning and then some touchup work in February. Because it is rubber it has enough grip and feel for me to pick things up, but smooth enough to glide over snow. However, if ever get to doing real extremecarving then I'd probably find something even tougher and completely smooth, like this idea invented in Poland:

:-) And what would you say if you could buy composite part completely compatible with just any glove type?

For example nice carbon ones?

Sounds cool?

I use these

and these
http://www.ebay.it/itm/COX-SWAIN-Men-Fa ... 99abf4bbcf
they are cheap and tough, but remember to order a size bigger than your usual one and that they are only moderately perspirant.

Not to use them when the hands glide through/over the snow like ecing. You will destroy them fast.

@Jax : This gloves are nice. Like for every model you need some polyglut to improve them.

Pro : well designed, strong enough for EC, long gauntlet / cuff avoiding snow penetration.
Con : coooold. poor thermal insulation.

The Thors are good gloves and the price is not bad but like Arnaud said, poor thermal insulation, the manufacturer recommends you use liner gloves in colder temperatures.

Back on the topic of modifying gloves for the rigors of EC...

I found this liquid rubber compound which is normally used for dipping/coating tool handles for a rubberized grip. I have coated the entire palm side of my gloves including the fingers and cuff, and so far this liquid rubber compound has bonded well, curing into a very durable and flexible rubberized surface.

The product that I found is called PLASTI DIP, manufactured by Performix. I found this product at Home Depot here in the US, so this stuff or similar products can be easily found in hardware stores. The can I bought had the black rubber compound, but I saw on the back of the can that this product is also available in Red,Blue and Yellow!!!

I will have to wait till winter to really see how well this material will hold up sliding my palms on the frozen piste. My personal review of this PLASTI DIP experiment will come in a few months :lol2:

NOTE: Anybody out there, please give me a tutorial on how to post images on the Forum... I took some pictures of the gloves I coated, and also a picture of the can of PLASTI DIP.

They are coming back !

New in 2013 season :
- Two size available : M and L
- New breathable system
- New adjusting system on a wrist
- Additional layer of PU on critical places.

As usual:
- warm fleece Insulation
- Long Cuff
- Membrane breathable waterproofing

Yes, they are not so pretty, but works very well : easily slide on snow, it gives benefits during laydowns; protecting sleeves of yours jackets and so on.
They will be available in ECS 2013.
