Swoard 161 M, or rather 168 S ?

Post by moon » Monday 16 February 2009, 7:10

I am going to buy Swoard, but I do not know on what I have to decide. I have 170 cm of growth, use shoes Head Stratos Pro 26,5 mondo size, my weight this 64 kg. Should I buy Swoard 161 M, or rather 168 S ?
I ask about help.

Hello,

Since you have big feet for your height, I would recommend you the 168S. It's crucial for extremecarving that you have no feet overhang. Your height (170 cm) is close to the limit of choice 161-168. But don't worry about the length of the Swoard: you don't feel it. My girl-friend is 162 cm and is learning snowboarding on a Swoard 161. She feels comfortable and stable.

Hello moon,
Same height, boot size as you (though the real mondo size of my feet is 25) and about my weight, well let's say that since I quit smoking I have no idea
My Swoard is a 161M but I had the chance to try a 168S at the ECS and I confirm what Patrice said, don't worry about the length of the board
As for choosing between the 161 and the 168, I would say that it depends on your riding style and the snow/slopes you like riding the most; as for me, I really like both; I only tried the 168 for about 1hour 1/2 but i found it a bit "more stable" at high speed (easy schuss) compared to the 161. However, I needed to concentrate more because it goes much faster within 2 seconds and I had to do more efforts for making the board "turn"; this is probably because I kept same angles I have on the 161. But somehow I think for the best for EC style, it's for the best because if your technique is not right, the board will not turn as you expect (at all) :silly:

PS to Patrice : it's only my point of view but I don't really agree when you say 26.5 mondo size with Head Stratos Pro is too big for the 161..
