Carved at IBC

Post by Jonas Rejman » Monday 15 September 2008, 0:20

2 takes of Carved made it to the official RED ONE demo at IBC, Amsterdam. Parts of only 22 other projects were cut together, from the best shots submitted by the best of the best.
While there was no time to get that done for NAB in April this year, and Carved was shown around at the show-floors on HDTV, this time the film and tv pro's got all the 2K love they could get.
This is quite a deal for me, so pardon my not-so subtle pride. :twisted:

@Felix
Lausanne has no digital cinema, as far as I know. There were some talks about more screenings than those we did in Geneva, but I hit some walls. I ran against them again, and later again, so I do not see it happening. I am sorry.

I'm not in the Valais anymore anyhow. Just asked because you once announced so that it may happen.

Congrats to the above.

It Ain't Over...

Post by Jonas Rejman » Friday 6 February 2009, 1:01

... 'til It's Over

Soooo, ECS 2009 went by and I heard you guys had a wonderful time there. I could not make it, as I am stuck here with some stereoscopic tests on the RED ONE. A whole new world, I am starting from zero.

Many of you did not like the fact, that there is so much slow-motion in Carved.

I found an artist in Brazil, who never was in the mountains, who maybe even never saw snow... ;-D. And he did a 1 minute vision of his own:
"La Carvesina".

Stay tuned, we are color correcting this thing as we speak.

Jonas,
what a great job you did in making "Carved"!
The softboot as well as the carving part, the slow motions, the air, the clouds, the wind... All captured very well in the music which is also fantastic!

Absolutely fabulous :!:
I will enjoy it for a long time.

hello Jonas, hello everybody.
After I saw the "carved" movie during dinner at the last ECS, I had to get it to see it over and over again.
So I put my paypal donation and I got the file. Burned a DVD and ... WOW!!!
Fantastic indeed!!!!

Excellent work Jonas - really!

One question remains: just around the beginning of the 4-th minute, there is a short portion that is out of focus. It is by artistic design?
If I dare to offer my own judgment: I think that it would have been better if it were focused.

Still ... great work of art! Simply great.

Thank you Jonas!!!!

@AZ
Thanks man! - Yeah that out of focus is there by design. And no, it would not be better. Why? Because the whole point of the sequence before the 90 seconds shot is to TEASE you guys. Tease and tease, up to the point, where you burst. The movie never shows the full movement, its always bits and pieces. So, if I show you the movement, it MUST be out of focus, to be strict. But you get your meat later in the Reichenbach shot, don't you?
.. at least this was the "artistic" intention.
Besides, flaws make us think. Perfection is boring.

A propos teasing.... you guys should check the login area... ;-D

Hey,
Quick question. I was trying to purchase the video and it says that "This recipient is currently unable to receive money." What's up with that?:(
