The answer to my questions is: If you stop, even at the edge of an empty slope, within a minute or so, skiers come out from nowere, turning exactly in front of you and spraying you full of snow, even if they have the whole slope at their disposal. Therefore, there is almost impossible to avoid the skiers, they will always find you. I also think Pokkis has a point. The problem is that many skiers overestimate their skills and runs faster than they should. It is especially dangerous when the slope has a lot of terrain, meaning large bumps so you can't see what is below the bump. I have witnessed some very nasty accidents on such spots with death as the result.
What should we do? Be early on the slopes, watch upwards, and go home when the crowd is coming.
How to make skiers ride safer?
