Since this picture was taken, the park and halfpipe has been removed. I hope you not will run into competitions when you are there. Usually, I am there almost alone, occasionally a few skiers, that is all. Outside, the slope, there are also excellent off-piste possibilities.See the tracks at left.
I was there this winter. From 3th of January. Some people asked what is the name of that strange thing that fixed to my boots. I also asked them about their strange skis never seen so many telemarkers at once.
My swallow board was with me and took part in powder destruction there were just about 10 people at once,but during weekend there were much more.
I liked Oppdal and strange highland road on the way to Oslo. There was 11 m/s wind and heavy snowing when i drive there.

Thank you, Mirek - you pointed out at a very useful exercise for learning the extremecarving technique. You should practise such slides, both frontside and backside, to learn safe falling on the slope while making laid carved turns.
The main idea is that in order not to damage your feet you should not use your board as a brake. Try to keep the board as high as possible in the air and slow the sliding down speed by your body.
Tali - thank you for the hint. While watching the movie, I admired how well rider (here: Hugo) copes with a safe fall.
It looks funny but is effective it.
Have the skills to safely falling down is very important during the snowboard ride - especially on steep slopes.
Maybe it would be worth more accurately describe the subject?

I think when you ride on steeper slope then falling is less risky due you ride with more attention and you ride more closer to slope.
When you ride on less steep, then you dont concentrate and ride usually more upward position which makes you fall down from higher than whe riding closer to slope.
In Oppdal there are both steep and flat slopes. So there are a lot of opportunities to practice safe falling from all riding positions. Perhaps we should spend half a day's session on safe falling and sliding. Especially sliding down Hovden might be spectacular. What do yo say, Pokkis?
